If you could simply detect vowels to some degree, it could be used to support voice commands in getting higher precision. Augmented voice commands would make sense. Full lip reading is pretty tricky as normal people often form fairly varied versions of the same shape to speak. Most lip reading works best with controlled movements which the average gamer sitting on a couch isn't going to do.
Try to be reasonable... its easier than you think...
