To read lips?! way too much variation in mouth shape and lazy speech would make this very difficult to do so i agree with you! i'm not saying it impossible mind just highly unlikely in computer gaming hardware mouth shape is too unpredictable
Highly doubt it'll be bundled either unless the cost of the console is sky high, Kinect retailed at around £130 in the UK (if memory serves me) to put that price on top of a console would be a very high entry level! i could see the original Kinect coming bundled with the next console as the move will be with the PS4
I have no doubt Kinect 2 will be available and will be a marked improvement on the original these claims however are a little hopeful
If that is true it will not only rely on reading lips. The lips would give ADDITIONAL info on how to interpret speech thus possibly making voice recognition more accurate. (At least that's my theory...)

Kinect can track fingers right now. And even facial expressions and movements.

Kinect can track fingers. And the lip reading is just an example to illustrate its precision, there aren't any rumors about it actually being used for it.

First, it wasn't faked.
Second:
There are many options for cables/inputs (such as USB 3.0) that can take the much higher resolution data and give it straight to the data crunching parts of the Xbox, which will reduce lag and increase accuracy/detail/precision.
Kinect 2.0 will be able to see when someone is giving you a blowjob :p
Seriously though, I somewhere am hoping they will bundle it with at least a certain SKU of the "nextbox", as I am unlikely to go out and buy a seperate one, because i don't want on that much.
