Forums - Gaming - If you're a bit of a fanboy towards a console, nearing the end of this geneation, would you consider picking up the rival console for the best exclusives?

Well I have already bought myself an Xbox 360, despite my PS fanboy status.

I don't really regret it, I have had great fun with Gears the Mass Effect games primarily, but chances are that I won't be getting a 720 at launch and instead saving my money for a PS4 instead

No, I'd never buy a system if i knew i'd end up buying less than 10 games for it in the end. i wouldnt even buy 5 games for those other consoles and the ps3 and psp give me plenty to play already. I'm sure I'll be buying PS3 games for at least another 3/4 years.

The only system I need to get soon is PS Vita

Although I seriously considered purchasing a PS3 on several occassions, I could never really justify it. Much like a new TV - it'd be nice to have one to experience the exclusives but I just don't need it right now. I am a student, my money situation is mediocre, I work part time, purchasing another console will just shoot me in the foot both time and money wise.

When I will be able to purchase it I am not sure I am going to - by then it'll be like purchasing PS2 in around 2007. Although I don't think graphics or game quality leap will be anywhere near the 6th - 7th generation, I still think it may affect me, there are very few games I can play that have been released a long time ago - RTS games and that's it.

I am not a fanboy, at the time of my purchase 360 seemed like a much better alternative, and I do not regret my decision in the slightest - it's been great as all my current friends own a 360 with the exception of 1 - who purchased a 360 anyway. I don't love Microsoft or anything, I like 360 for what it is - an entertainment/gaming machine, and probably would have been the same towards PS3 had I purchased that instead.

Disconnect and self destruct, one bullet a time.

Wow, very much like my situation. The only exception is I've converted most of my friends form ps3 to 360.

Alot of diffrent reactions in this post but most of them are considering buying the other consoles at the end of the current generation. Although, we only say that now, would the temptation of the next gen console be to much to bare and we'd save/spend up just that much more to experience it?

Definetly not.

I have a good PC and a PS3. I got a 360 in 2009 but I didn't really see the awesome-ness in Halo nor Gears and as time passed by I realised that there were very few exclusives per year that Microsoft puts out (obviously its their strategy and thats fine) but for me, who's a core gamer and appreciates first party exclusitivity, Microsofts Xbox 360 is not worth my time nor the online fee payment. This is obviously in my situation as I rather play multiplatforms on the PC (more cheaper!) and I am a sucker for Sony's first party and the PS3 exclusive games that push the hardware. And I'm a class A+ fanboy, just look at my signature.

Some friends of mine got a 360 at launch, luckily I've managed to show off some games and most sold their 360 while others never logon and lack XBL.

I have all 5 this generation. I only picked up an Xbox 360 for the Japanese support in the early years. I probably will skip out on the Xbox 720 since I don't care for Halo or Gears of War. I don't hate MS as a company or anything, they are just going in the opposite direction of my gaming interests compared to the other two companies.

"Naturally the common people don't want war: Neither in Russia, nor in England, nor for that matter in Germany. That is understood. But, after all, IT IS THE LEADERS of the country who determine the policy and it is always a simple matter to drag the people along, whether it is a democracy, or a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is TELL THEM THEY ARE BEING ATTACKED, and denounce the peacemakers for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. IT WORKS THE SAME IN ANY COUNTRY."  --Hermann Goering, leading Nazi party member, at the Nuremberg War Crime Trials

Huge Nintendo fanboy, but owned a PS3 as well from the start. However i can't imagine myself having a 360 considering that i'm not a big fan of shooters, and well the Sony exclusives are what I need. However there is a slight chance i would since I left my PS3 back in my country, and I'm mostly interested in multiplat games. With the 360 being cheaper, I just might possibly go for one.

If the PS4 gets the same level of support the PS3 has been getting the last few years, it's all I'll need.

Nope as I have yet to buy all the exklusives I want on the ps3 and 1 console and one handheld(psp and soon replaced by psvita is enough for me.
