Here are the things i want

Specs:

- New powerful CPU that also has the ability to emulate the CELL. (Probably use a Quad core design, add a few SPU's if they are needed for backwards compatibility with PS3/PSN games)
- New GPU, it should be around a HD 7850 in power, maybe a little stronger, also add eDRAM to it for the PS2 backwards compatibility development advantages early on.
- 8gb of RAM, (4gb system (DDR4 if possible, 4gb graphics (GDDR5 if possible)
- 4x USB 3.0 ports (3 in the front, 1 in the back)
- Gigabit Ethernet connection
- 802.11g/n for Wireless.
- Bluetooth 3.0 or better (maybe 4.0 if its cheap enough)
- 12x Blu-ray drive speed.
- HDD

Software:
- New Naughty Dog game at launch.
- Killzone 4 in the first few months
- GT6 with 12 months of the system launching.
- More developer friendly than PS3.
- NO Mandatory installs (optional installs are fine)
- NO day-one patches. Make developers wait 7 days before patching the game.

OS:

- In-game music at a OS level (eg. its in all games)
- Youtube upload at a OS level
- Allow me to do more things while using the in-game OS interface (eg. access the internet or PSN Store)
- Allow users to customize there in-game OS interface. (eg. If i can't use a feature i want the ability to hide)
- Offer good integration with PS Vita (remote play, etc)

PSN:
- All current PSN games work on PS4.
- Add cross-game chat.

Pricepoint:
$399 US launch price.
$60 RRP for retail games, games also available on PSN.
SONY at break-even or slight profit with hardware from day one.

I think your spot on now lets see if I can be the first to post. Yea buddy first to post.

Now along with  everything you've said i'd say better marketing, have closer launch dates in each market, likely the most requested thing this gen that PS3 obviously lacks is JRPG's.

make sure every game has had the time it needs in dev., no copy cat shooters, i guess better online service but i don't play multiplayer online unless I'm training someone. and i guess last but certainly not least keep create play share, make it available for every genre, and make a franchise in every genre. 3rd party support is great but like Nintendo rely mostly on yourself but don't neglect 3rd party either, but i could personally do without them.

Oh and make sequels for every ip Sony owns. Did I mention JRPG's? Lots and lots of JRPG's. Basically PS2 reincarnated.

great thread PSN.

I think the days of tons and tons of jRPGs are over for consoles and outside of Japan.  But, I do think jRPG devs will get on board earlier than they did with the PS3.  I doubt they will be trying to make them work with the next Xbox console like they did with the 360 - which didn't work out too well for them.

i can dream can't i? i've said it time time again. in lst 4 gens i've missed out on so many great games its sad.

In what way is that a valid point? From your game's collection it looks if you are an Xbox fan.

4GB of VRAM? Really?

---------------------

Anyway, i will say my idea again:

PS4 needs to have a EXTERNAL GPU. Its IS possible, and would make the system affordable in the start, but very powerfull for those that want to upgrade later own.

Cool thread. I agree with everything except the ram. It is a gaming console, no need for a large amount. 3gb (1gb XDR2 for CPU and 2gb GDDR5 for GPU) should be fine. Or 2gb would work too, depends on target power(Due to costs GPU won't exceed ~GTX560 imo). Also, the nextbox is rumored to have 2gb.

e=mc^2

Gaming on: PS4 Pro, Switch, SNES Mini, Wii U, PC (i5-7400, GTX 1060)

Enough RAM for true 1080p games, none of this up scailing bullshit

for to be the powerfullest console of its gen not limited to sonys 1st party studious i want all games to be superior on it

maintain free online

new controller design

good hardcore M rated exclusive games

wouldnt mind ps2 and 3 B/C

                                                                      Play Me

I don't give a shit about any of that, just give me good games and I won't care about anything else.

-Tri Cell design (3x7 design would be beastly)
-2 gig XDR ram
-2 gig Video Card (Not up to the times with gpus so I can't name one).
-Enough EDRam for 1080p graphics (Too lazy to calculate the framebuffer).
-4 USB ports
-300gig harddrive.
