If the 4k thing on the PS3 is true, it is only for pictures. When info was flyng around bout that it only mentioned photos.
Before the PS3 everyone was nice to me :(

Yep. And it's way too late in the production cycle to completely redo the CPU. That would mean having to change a lot of the motherboard, RAM interconnects, the data busses and a lot of the software code that runs it all.

Yeah you're right. I went to Sony's page and the tech specs still list 1080p as highest. I could of sworn I read recently that a FW update allowed it to upscale blurays to 4k like some other bluray players. i can add 4k to resolution, but I was focusing gaming centric as much as possible. |
it's your thread and up to you. i was just scanning the OP and it stuck out to me as a recent rumor.
I would leave the specs alone until we have official confirmation (not likely), or whenever someone gets their hand on the unit.
There is going to be a lot of FUD flung around, e.g. the rumour posted in the OP.

What FUD in the OP?
This has been an ongoing thread based on all the leaks and a little commons sense.
Updated OP based on Nintendo's conference. All OFFICIAL DATA except CPU and GPU. But that will come soon.
Disappointed with Wii U's ram. 1.5gb seemed low already... now 1gb for games? I refuse to believe people honestly think this is enough to get ports that aren't significantly dumbed down. We all seem to think 4gb is most likely for orbis/durango right? So games developed with 3-4gb of ram in mind (assuming some will be dedicated to OS) aren't going to struggle with 1gb?
PS3 and 360 have the same amount of ram, yet just the allocation of it on PS3 causes issues, so how is 4x less ram not going to cause serious issues?
Don't wanna express this opinion on the ninty section because if I do then I'm of course a troll or "doomsayer" and what not. I'm not shitting on the Wii U, it's a legit concern.
Maybe WiiU will help current consoles to stay relevant. Games for WiiU will be easily ported to current gen. Bayonetta will be exclusive for some time then a Director's Cut will surface on PS3/360.

It's a very big concern. It's not without its solutions, but if the devs don't wanna make that solution ports are either not gonna happen, or run into issues. Though it all depends on what MIcrosoft and Sony releases in their consoles. 3 gigs dedicated to games in both consoles can be the difference of level sizes.

That is an interesting though. Wii U might help prolong the current console cycle.
