For movies.... something PS3 and other bluray players can already do. OP is for games primarily. Granted, I didn't even list 3D but I bet they all can do that, though don't think it will have much of a focus.

i can see your point about it being only for movies (games obviously won't render at (or anywhere near) 4k) but as cost is as much a part of this discussion as specs i would think it is at least worth mentioning.

Yeah you're right. I went to Sony's page and the tech specs still list 1080p as highest. I could of sworn I read recently that a FW update allowed it to upscale blurays to 4k like some other bluray players.

i can add 4k to resolution, but I was focusing gaming centric as much as possible.

it's your thread and up to you.  i was just scanning the OP and it stuck out to me as a recent rumor.
