Well since we are dealing with consoles, the engines will be optimized to take care of special needs of each console.

That would be interesting, but I really don't think anyone will do dual GPU due to costs alone.

I will update the cpu/gpu tables later today with the data you guys said would be better compared. I'll also add info on the actual gpu in the apu rumored for comparison's sake.

However, in the end I don't think it matters. I really think that all three will be close enough that it will simply come down to first party and unique features. In that fight, only Nintendo has the clear advantage. So long as other rumors on their OS and networking capability prove to be true.

My inner Nintendo Fanboy is gleaming with joy, but my inner achivement whore wants to open her legs to more Xbox.

The AMD A8-3850 is not a multi-threaded CPU.   I don't think any mainstream AMD CPU is capable of simultaneous multithreading.  Even Bulldozer's "CMT" is more marketing than actual mutlithreading.

I did see one listing that displayed the number of threads as 4 which I can see why that would make it appear it does 4 threads per core but it actually means it runs 4 threads because it has 4 cores.

That may have been what I read and assumed incorrectly. Its been awhile since I added that Fusion information.

With that in mind, do you agree that PS4 might have the lowest powered machine, based on the specs in OP?

If these specs were to hold up as we see them listed, the PS4 would certainly be the least capable of the 3 systems.

How likely is it that these specs hold true? I have a very hard time wrapping my head around the idea of Nintendo's Wii U being comparatively specced against the Xbox Durango and PS4. It has a more costly controller, is coming out a year earlier, and is launching at a competitive price. By all means the PS4 and Xbox Durango SHOULD be substantially more powerful... By the simple logic spinning in my head.

Wii is the first home console where Nintendo was the least powerful system. (NES/SNES/N64/GC were all more powerful than what was currently on the market.)

You have no clue what controllers will be with Durango/PS4. New Kinect version or copy of tablet... you just don't know.

You have no clue what prices they will launch at.

There is no 'logic' that would dictate they would be more powerful than Wii U let alone "substantially" more powerful.

The rumors all point to three systems with comparable specs and probaby comparable prices launching within a year of each other.

But the Famicom/NES was weeker then the SEGA MKIII/Master System.

But wouldn't launching a year later make the consoles more powerful due to the technology advancements and component price reductions that take course over the year?

"that what was currently on the market", Master System came out after NES.

Compared to SG-1000, NES was greater, compared to Master System... NES was weaker.

Maybe. But from the rumors we have now.... neXtBox will probably be stronger while PS4 might not be. However, it doesn't guarantee it (Wii was less than 360) and there is far more logic to state they will all be really similar.

The Famicom was released in Japan in July 1983. The Sega MKIII/Master SYstem launched in Japan in October 1985.

Not by default, because they can aim to release a console with about the same power and cheaper, or to include something very expensive like Kinect 2.0 and put it out at the same price.

Logic says that if they are not including anything special or different in the console (like Kinect 2.0 or a iPad like controller with some processing power inside), and they are planning to charge a similar amount releasing 1 year later will mean more power, but the inclusion of those extra components and trying to keep the price about the same could mean very similar power in the machine.
