from this years week before MW3 to know if im not just being too much of a ps3 fan boy in feeling that the US numbers are undertracked

thats exactly why i don't believe the ps3 sales this week lol, week after uncharted 3, week of modern warfare 3 and skyrim, and it just gets nothing....

since PS3's YoY in NPD october is down 4%~flat,it wasn't hard to believe

maybe VGC should adjust down the last week of october,then first week of November's sales up will looks good,right?


I don't think you've read what im on about at all

i know,you want something like +20% or more in  MW3 week,so let's adjust down the last week of October+first week of Nov's number,then it will get nicely up week over week

Oh I agree... then again MW3 came out with the same stuff the past 2 games did and broke records upon records... so it's not always bad to change things that people like.

The hammerburst with active reload will put someone down REALLY fast... and the recoil is more like a CoD weapon than what it was in Gears 2, where the recoil was crazy.  But yeah, the Lancer is much more accurate than it was in Gears 2, making is even better long range... and since you run so fast in Gears 3, theres always someone kind of close, so you don't really need the hammerburst.  The retro is great if a guy with a shotgun is on you, you'll be able to put him down faster than he can you.  But yeah, it's useless on distance.  Might as well whip out your pistol.

Team deathmatch is fun of course, and I do like anything with rings, but I do miss Guardian.  Twas my favorite.  Another thing that is lost are shotgun battles where two guys would go 1 on 1.  It's so easy to kill people now.  It's also too easy to get headshots with shotguns.  It used to be a big deal when you popped someones head with a shotgun, but now it happens ALL the time.  That's nitpicking though.  Great game and tons of fun.

Yea, actually that snub pistol is really great at distance. Aiming at the head with an active reload just takes the head right off.

I agree about the shotguns. I remember I knew people who would put a peice of tap on their tv right in the middle to act as a retical for the shotgun, and even then headshots weren't common. Now it's sawed off shogun, aim in the general direction, if you miss, run and come back.

Still Gears 3 is the funnest Gears to date, but Gears 1 introduced most of the content, and could have had the best plot if it was more thoroughly fleshed out. However who am I to complain? For a 2006 Hd title, Gears of War was years ahead of the competition in quality and content.

So week of UC3 PS3 gets a boost. Naturally the next week sales fall back, but this year COD:MW3 releases and the sales recover. Last year 360 launched Kinect week before COD:BO so boost wasnt as great COD:BO week.



Its libraries that sell systems not a single game.

This is a very reasonable explanation. Thank God someone compared the circumstances of this and last year instead of saying "this numbers are BS, I don't believe them"

They kinda are in Europe. It is illegal to sell 18+ rated title to under 18 years old. You can easily bypass this by buying your games from internet though.

Yeah.  I meant hypothetically really.  It's just one of those funny things.  These titles get mature ratings but TBH the industry and developers know they're depending on a ton of sales outside the age guide.

For a moment I just imagined a world without kids screaming in my ear playing mature games online...

Except PS3 DIDN'T get a boost from U3... A mere 9%, less than other consoles, which didn't have any game releasing.

I think MS would be crazy to release a new unit now.  360 is still selling fine for them and growing marketshare and brand, and games like CoD continue to sell hugely on the console.  Sure, overall sales, etc. seem down but that's more down to Wii and not MS's problem.

A new console risks slowing sales of 360, would probably hit 360 chance to grow more outside US/UK where a more expensive console with Live would likly be less attractive than 360 is now.

2013 seems earliest likly slot on current trends.
