Peta has attacked Mario before. They had a game featuring two chicks which were dressed in Mario and Luigi costumes. During the game Peta took several jabs at Mario. Including one where they slant Mario for riding Yoshi claiming it is animal cruelty. That coupled with the recent BattleField comments make it clear that PETA either doesn't like the games industry or they make a huge fuss about them because they think it will get them publicity.

Honestly PETA, yah animals shouldn't be mistreated purposely for no reason. But your organization has gone way to far the line of decency is 50 miles behind you!

i don't get why anyone would skin an animal alive? i mean wouldn't it just be harder to skin it while it is moving?
i don't believe it and think its only en exaggeration(Sp?) to make things look worse than they are!

On a similar note, I was playing through Bioshock last night and I came upon a dead cat in a crawl space. I was kind of surprised to see it in the game (it could have been a stuffed animal but it looked more like a real cat).

Wow. This new awareness campaign has made me aware of the constant atrocities towards animals that Mario commits on a daily basis.

Fucking Mario! He always stomps on turtles that walk on 2 feet and goombas: the 2 most populated animals on Earth.

He's just thinning out their numbers to save their species from becoming extinct. Like these guys do...
