Forums - Nintendo - Nintendo cares about children, but shows no respect for the elderly

Not bad.  Not bad at all seth, but I don't recall anyone bad mouthing Wii Fit in the OP.

I said that it was only for chicks and I think that you may have proven my point.  It is fun to watch though.

Point is proven that it is fun for both.  Men don't even have to play the game and get real life eye candy.  Sounds like a win-win for both and a lot better than a girlfriend that is only semi-interested in video games that has to watch a boyfriend play video games such as Halo, Gran Turismo, God of War, etc..

Let's stop derailing this thread and get let's get it back on track.

The Nintendo shows no respect for the elderly.  Older people could break a hip playing that hula hoop game.

I am glad you brought up the elderly.  I'll have to go back to Wii Sports for them.  My grandma enjoyed playing Wii Sports bowling.  I would go visit her almost every Christmas throughout my childhood and bring my video game systems with me (or receive them there).  I can't remember her ever playing but she might have tried Super Mario Bros. once before determining she didn't have the hand/eye coordination.  She was able to bowl decently even being in a wheelchair and scored around a 150 or 160 once (usually averaging 120 or so).  She even had severe arthritis which caused her finger to be slanted.  She was able to hold the Wiimote and swing it (messing up a few times since you had to release the button for the original).

But nobody said anything bad about Wii Sports either.  How often did your grandma play Zelda or Metroid?

Congrats on getting laid from Wii Sports, by the way.

I know but these are the games that support my argument the easiest.  Of course Nintendo has dropped the ball on F-Zero and a few other franchises.  I believe F-Zero will be released on the 3DS worldwide.  They will also probably do a bad ass Metroid for the 3DS and keep pumping the Zelda on 3DS.

your 30 next year? lol thought you were younger :P

Just because he lives with his mother that doesn't mean he's younger.. he lives in the Attic not basement if people wondered..

Face the future.. Gamecenter ID: nikkom_nl (oh no he didn't!!)

Well, I guess in terms of videogame years, those of us who have been gaming since the mid-80s and are now approaching or in our 30s would in fact constitute "the elderly" of the gaming population lol.

Prolly why I can't stand these dang kids and their stupid motion control dance games and their regenerating health and constant checkpoints. Back in my day we didn't get infinity redo's... we had 3 lives and no continues, and had to go through the entire game in one sitting!

NOW GET OFF MY LAWN!

You know I was always wondering why no one ever used the dollar sign for $ony, but then I realized they have no money so it would be pointless.

Interesting

For one I don't really think that Super Mario 3D Land's really that easy as compared to past entries, from what I've been seeing. (Well frankly speaking the only Mario games I've ever played in my life are Super Mario Bros when I was a lil kid and Super Mario 3D Land which I just bought 6 hours ago.)

Both are equally awesome IMO.

Plus, about the thing that Ninty's screwing up by ignoring the older generation, I don't see that it's the case, at least if you're looking from the viewpoint of sales. Wii and the DS were pretty much one of the best-selling consoles in history ever, and with Ninty's targeting of the much wider demographic this time round I don't see how it's even leaving anyone behind in the dust. There's always games suitable for everyone. But most importantly, since this new approach at the target audiences work, why not stick with it? It's earning them hell lot of moolah anyway.

But yes, some parts of your argument are true. Like Metroid, for example. Keeps reminding me of Tomb Raider (yeah you know what I'm talking about)

And with Nintendo's attempts to retarget the more "mature" audience hasn't been too smooth now either. The 3DS nearly flopped, even though Ninty did its magic and it's now on its way to beat DS in terms of first year sales. But for the Wii U, industry reaction hasn't been too enthusiastic about its attempts to reconcile with the more hardcore audience.

Oh well, let's just see what the big N'll do along the road.

Why would you think that? Because I am able to keep up with the youngsters and make some mint threads?

Nah. Thought you must be a kid if you play Nintendo games :P
