Shoot I will have to get this sooner than I though, it's melting my resistance.
Buying in 2015: Captain toad: treasure tracker,

The games look equally fun, let's say.
But 3D land likely cost 10x more to make per unit level section.
So why did they not make it in the old graphics style? Would be the same game just vastly cheaper.
Some of them were not as clean as others, but the one with Bowser looked pretty cool and reasonably authentic.

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.
I can see that resemblence of difficulty of 3D Land to the older games, reason why the first playthrough would be too easy for the vet(I can't consider myself a vet anymore after playing NSMBwii ;_;), we can see the obstacles coming from a mile away... Hell, I'm still getting this game no matter what!

And proud member of the Mega Mario Movement!
Either 3DLand has some serious framerate issues or Mario and Bowser are getting really old judging by how slow they move these days.

It wouldn't be the same game. In case you didn't notice, the old games take place on a 2D plain while this new game features 3D gameplay. "Let's say" only works until a certain point before it becomes silly. |
The 3D plane doesn't do anything for the level design (watched let's play through to world 4). The obstacles would work equally well in 2D in this game.
Ah preordered... it's horrible, but i really can not resist mario :P
