Sony meant shipped 3.8m Day 1 but VG247 got confused. This is absolutly amazing number, Batman shipped 4 million on 2 platforms. Now only GT, GTA and COD will be bigger sellers on PS3 then Uncharted.

well batman shipped 4.6m,and i think Skyrim also have chance

You are right but they shipped on 2 platforms not just PS3.

"About 4.6 million copies of Arkham City have been shipped to stores since it launched Oct. 18, meaning the game has a good chance of eventually selling at least that many copies. Warner's previous Arkham-Batman game, the 2009 hit Arkham Asylum, sold 4.3 million copies."

3.8 million is total shipped copies to retailers.
1 million copies of the Uncharted 3 were sold by retailers to consumers in its first week.
The remaining 2.8 million inventory should be sold before the end of 2011: Black Friday and Xmas holiday sales period.

over 1.2m dude, don't forget Japan numbers

shipped, sold who cares. Uncharted 3 is a blockbuster. Excellent job ND.

Obviously when a company says sold they mean they sold, meaning shipped. There's no errors or conspiracy there it always happens.

It's a great number. How long does a first day shipment usually last? Could it be undertracked or is it normal for the stock to last months?

it's the holidays.. usually you press more discs cause if you run out you won't have the chance to press them again.. around these times the factories making the blurays  are full with orders untill january just like the factories printing the manuals and dvd covers.. with a game like this it's not surprising to order a million more or so just to not run out of copies..

Face the future.. Gamecenter ID: nikkom_nl (oh no he didn't!!)

Yeah I thought so. It should be enough for the holidays and then some extra. Thanks.

thats great
btw SCEE stop this sold thing, you did that in KZ2

I don't understand what you mean, in the last sentence.

SCEE said KZ2 over 1.1m pre-order in europe before it released

http://www.destructoid.com/killzone-2-preorders-hit-1-1-million-in-europe-120678.phtml

Preorders yes, doesn't say anywhere it was preorders from people

wow do you think people would think about that

Doesn't matter what I think people would think. They never said they weren't preorders from retailers. Sony always say sold, when talking about shipped because that's what shipments actually mean to them. They sell them

no i'm talking about pre-orders right now(if you want),i didn't disagree other things

Preorder from retailers... get it .

This number is shipped.

However, one must realize, that shipping a lot of units to retailers does not always mean a good thing. When MHTri came to the states, Capcom shipped TONS of units to retailers, and they just sat on the shelves.

I believe the same thing is happening here. I noticed sites like Amazon are already discounting the game. It is very likely that retailers and e-tailers are overstocked.

I have another theory... of course retailers overstocked U3 for the Holidays but 3.8 million shipped to 1.2 million sold seems a little undertracked here.

For me VGC numbers are good in US ans way off in EMEAA... so the game may have sold more there than VGC thinks... 800-1000k is my bet just for EMEAA.

In total I guess U3 sold in first week somewhere between 1.5m and 1.8m (2m on shelves for Holiday).

VGC always underestimates PS3 software in EMEAA.

PS. My "undertracked" feeling never let me down

UK numbers (not all of Europe) were released, and it only did about 120k. UK is the biggest market in Europe. I believe it takes up a little over 20%. So that x5 would be around 600k.

Middle East and Asia are not that popular with video games, so I doubt they contributed much.
