What i find odd is that they were 5 and 6. When i was that young i was a good 5 years away from knowing my penis was good for anything other than urination

Are we sure this was sexual experimentation, or just two kids playing around?

You are absolutely right. Religion was also the first thing I thought about when reading this. The stupidity of this crime isn't all that important, but the religion of the people involved is.

I was just trying to point out that, had these people been muslim, the headline would've read 'Muslim parents disfigure 2 boys with hot iron' (the purpose being to equate Islam with violent and barbaric practices such as genital mutilation). When christians do something like this, no one ever says 'christians mutilate 2 boys with hot iron'.

No, I think the reason why it wasn't posted was because this is an incident that happened in a poor third world country ... If they were muslims I highly doubt that their religion would be mentioned either.

i was hoping somebody would point that out.

There are some rules to life I go by. One of them is to never inflict injury to people's genitals. You just don't do that.

Unless it's circumcision :)

So you want to make your kids more masculine by burning the part of the body that gives them testosterone ? AND the BUTT!?

Anyway, the thought of what those kids had to go through makes me cringe. Being held down while someone burns you with a hot iron--at the age of 5 or 6. Unimaginable. There are some monsters in this world.

And once again religion gets shoved into a topic that had nothing to do with religion whatsoever. What if these parents were *gasp* atheists and not "most likely Christian"? I honestly feel embarrassed when I read some peoples' posts on this site; which is precisely the reason I don't post here often.
