Forums - Sony - Uncharted 3 ending left a lot of questions unanswered (Epic, Massive, Game-ruining Spoilers)

I was kinda let down by the ending, it really left a lot of questions unanswered

First off - ''Drakes Deception'' - What is his deception? I was kinda hoping we would find out more aboit his orgin and the past.I was especially intrigued when Marlowe started talking about his past, mentioning his ''real name'' and the fate of his parents. Also, every time Elena asked him ''what is with all this obsession'' he always avoided the answer. I was hoping we would get to find out what makes want to do all that stuff he did, but i never got the answer.Or am I missing something here? What is his deception?

Talbot & Marlowe - These guys were a mystery from the beginning to the end. First off, how did Talbot survived getting shot by Charlie but died when got shot by Drake? What about the mysterious card that showed burning of a tower by a women looking like Marlowe? How was Marlowe able to speak inside Drakes head? (and no, it wasnt the dart drug)

Drake & Elena - There was obviously some kind of relationship between them, between 2nd and 3rd game, we found out very little of it and what exactly happened to them still remains unknown. Also, how did Elena knew about charlie when they never met in the game?

I think Im missing something here, somebody please fill me in

when they mean drake they are talking about francis drake, and hoe he decieved the queen by lieng about the location.

talbot was on a drug.

and when it comes to the cards i think marlow has like a person who can portray the future.

Being in 3rd place never felt so good

I have never played such an epic game in my life but yes some things I wish we would have found out. Like whats his real name and things!

the deception refers to Francis Drake lying to the Queen.

Talbot, I'm gonna guess was wear a vest and Charlie hit the vest.
Marlowe gave the card to Charlie as a big F-U to him because she was about to burn him on a tower and the card is about a burning tower to him so...
If you mean when Drake is alone in the desert, I think that was more like the situation of Metal Gear Solid 3 where Snake is climbing that really long ass ladder and the theme tune acapella starts to play to avoid it being dull.
If you mean the town square where she shows him the picture, it's because she was standing right next to him whilst he was tripping out. If you compare his dialogue to Talbot's and hers, you can see they don't match up.

Between Uc2 and Uc3, Drake and Elena had been together for about 2yrs, it makes sense they knew each other during that time.

In addition to the Francis Drake deception to the Queen I also believe the title is a play on Nathan's ploy to lure out Marlowe by pretendng to sell his ring which kicks off the whole plot at the beginning.  There is also the deception of Charlie appearing to shoot Nate and Sully as part of this.  Then there is the fact we learn Nate's name and past is a deception as well.

Basically, given the feint of treasure for power giving narcotics plus others such as the Pirate lying about having Sully there is in fact a whole lot of deception going on right through the game.

But the main deception has to be Drake (as in Sir Francis) lying about the city.

I wonder if they have already mapped out further stuff about his background for future titles?

My only main grip was the somewhat half baked "supernatural element" and the tarot cards stuff.  It's all explainable but I felt it was handled a litle bit too throwaway.  But it's a minor gripe for sure next to all the good stuff in the game.

Try to be reasonable... its easier than you think...

Also, the third game takes place four years after the first one.

I think the only Supernatural stuff in this game were the Fire Spirits but that was explained by the drug angle so it can be argued there wasn't one this time around.

I think fire demons are actually real. Uncharted always throws in supernatural beings at the end of the game that guard secret civilization or treasure. There were these naked slippery ghoul like monsters in DF, and these purple lion-goat like brutes were in among thieves and in deception we have fire skull demons

I don't agree on them being real. I quite like that they did have the supernatural element and yet it had a decent explanation. The water being hallucigenic inducing fear in the mind. As the water effect wears out he starts to see the enemies as normal again.

I was kind of disappointed at the end there. The whole container that was contaminating the water was only in the spotlight for a very short time and then on top of that, Nate simply shoots a couple of explosive shells and the whole place comes crumbling down. While the crumbling of the city was cool, I think I liked events from the city sequence in Uncharted 2 more.

I was also disappointed with the main villains. It felt like that was another area that Uncharted 2 did a better job of.

Something else that was annoying that I hadn't noticed before was the reloading. It would be interrupted more than in the past games so there were times where I'd pop out to take down one of the numerous cookie cutter armored guys (another very annoying issue) and I'd only have a few bullets left in the magazine and take a shotgun blast to the face.
