“It appeared that there had even been demonstrations to thank Big Brother for raising the chocolate ration to twenty grams a week. And only yesterday, he reflected, it had been announced that the ration was to be reduced to twenty grams a week. Was it possible that they could swallow that, after only twenty-four hours? Yes, they swallowed it.”

- George Orwell, ‘1984’

I just beat it.

People, Nathan and Elena were married (or at least, engaged) between Uncharted 2 and Uncharted 3. Things didn't work out. Elena kept her ring. Nate lost his. Maybe he threw it away or something but Sully got it back and kept it.

I think the reason things didn't work was because Nathan is fucking obsessed with adventure. Why the hell did this whole game take place? Nathan HAD to find this lost city. Elena and Chloe basically say, "Nathan....what the hell is your problem?" If he didn't lure Marlowe out of hiding, they wouldn't have gone on this insane quest, Sully wouldn't have gotten kidnapped and probably raped (you KNOW it happened!). Cutter wouldn't have broken his leg. This whole adventure was something that didn't need to happen if Nathan would just sit on his ass and stop looking for trouble.

My gripes (because I am d21, right?):
-What the hell was up with that crane? Who designed that lost city because they need to be brought back from the dead and killed again. Drake shoots ONE building and the whole damn city (which somehow lasted for centuries) collapses. THE WHOLE CITY!!

-Marlowe is dying and Talbot is like, "You can't just let her die!" He doesn't even make an attempt to save her! Talbot could have taken off his pants and let her grab onto those. Instead, he was just a little bitch about the whole thing.  Let the guy who we've been trying to kill since the beginning of the game save my crazy old girlfriend.  Good thinking, Talbot.

-Marlowe and Talbot were descendants of some secret organization. They should have touched on that quite a bit more. Plus, their henchman--what the hell was wrong with them? You can shoot them and they don't even flinch. They just keep coming at you like mindless robots--especially those armor guys. And those big brutes: You'll be in the middle of a gunfight and they'll just walk up to you and try to punch you. Who does that? I'm a big, muscular guy but I ain't about to try to fistfight some guy with a gun!

-Speaking of them and their stupidity, a goddam building is on fire. A city is collapsing. A fucking tanker is sinking. The whole world is exploding around these guys and yet their number one priority is to try to be that one guy that kills Nathan Drake?

-How the heck did Talbot survive being shot by Cutter (and who the hell was Cutter? Don't just force these no-background-having people on us and expect us to like it. This ain't Gears of War!). I don't buy the "He wore a vest" excuse. I wear a vest. Even if it stops the bullet, you're going to have a broken rib or something. He wasn't phased.

-How the heck do Elena and Sully carry a rifle on their backs? They don't even have slings on their rifles! Do they use Velcro? If so, why doesn't it make that cool "riiiiiip* sound effect whenever they draw their weapon!?

-What's up with those bugs? I suspected a huge bug revelation. Never got it.

-The part at the end with the collapsing city is the most spectacular looking thing I have ever seen, graphically. I'm not going to lie. I sat there and watched the sand flow for about a minute. Yeah, the world was collapsing all around but damn, I needed to see that! What's my gripe? It should have been on the Xbox 360.

-Whose idea was it to make the "Circle Button" the "Grab the bad guy button"? Rolling to safety is how I roll. Everytime I tried to roll away from sniper fire, grenades, or something, I wound up grabbing some guy and getting into a fistfight (and Drake doesn't just knock a bitch out in this one--it's a long drawn out brawl). I always end up getting sniped or blown up while I'm stuck in fist fight mode!!

-And why does every single floor in the game collapse!? WHY!? I can imagine Drake's everyday life: "I need to go to the bathroom". "Oh, wait. The door is locked". "Hey! I can get in by climbing up that wall". *climbs wall* "Okay. Almost there". *floor collapses* "No, no, no, no, no!" If someone on youtube makes a video of all of the times Drake walks on a surface and it collapses, I will subscribe to them for life!!!

-And, of course, my biggest gripe for the entire Uncharted series: No matter how isolated the locale, no matter how tricky the puzzle (That only Nathan Drake is wise enough to solve), no matter how big the headstart, the enemy is always right there! Chloe and Cutter may have been followed. We have to get to them! *two days later* The bad guys are JUST GETTING THERE. *Nate and Sully have a headstart. They solve the puzzle. As they leave, the bad guys are JUST GETTING THERE.

-And finally, what the hell is Drake's problem? Elena needs to just walk away. People come right out and say, "Francis Drake found this secret land ages ago. What he saw made him cover his tracks (but still leave clues/riddles as to how to get back there? Francis Drake is an asshole.) and return to Canada (or wherever Drake came from. I'm American. Fuck geography.). Are you sure you want to go there, Nathan? It could be the end of the world....." Drake's response: "This is just something I have to do." Fuck you, Drake! Have you learned NOTHING from the last two games!?

And the whole rush to the "Atlantis of the Desert" was so that Marlowe and Talbot could find some trippy LSD water that apparently, they already had. I think their stash was running low and they just wanted a lifetime supply. Was that so wrong? Marlowe and Talbot love getting high on crazy juice and having crazy sex. Who am I to judge? Is it their fault that Drake and Cutter are a couple of lightweights who can't handle their shit?

You sir are a legend in your own time. I agree with 95% of everything you wrote. I too found the collapsing buildings annoying, they were this itteration's one handed catch, but I guess they are justifiable because the locales are tres old so if someone/something of Drake's weight lands on it with force, stands to reason it would collapse.

The Talbot getting shot thing was BS, I agree, I guess the only excuse is that Cutter missed and that Talbot THOUGHT he got hit (happens in the movies quite a lot)

I really think that the ending to Uncharted 3 could have been extended, while I loved this game to pieces I think that this game ended too quickly, maybe they wanted to hide things for the new game.

I bet that Golden Abyss answers some of our questions--and, in this day and age, let's not leave out the possibility of DLC.

I hope that this will be the case and as long as Naughty Dog monitor the progress of the game then this could occur. I don't know if it was me but Uncharted 3 just needed one more location to be of a great length.

I just remembered that Golden Abyss will be a prequel to Drake's Fortune. Don't expect to see more questions answered.

Aww......
