Forums - Gaming - WTF? Apple Voted Largest Influence On Gaming Industry...

That's the biggest amount of rubbish I've ever read... easily.

Mario and Nintendo are the single biggest contributors to gaming ... easily. Followed by Sony, Sega, and MS all well before Apple or its iOS platform.

As for single people, yes Miyamoto clearly should be at the top with way too many IPs and gaming ideas to count.

The people who answered this simply don't know gaming history.

to be fair.. they asked about the "gaming industry" not the "hardcore gaming industry"

*while NiKKoM posted this post his crops has withered in Farmville.. nooo... :( *

Face the future.. Gamecenter ID: nikkom_nl (oh no he didn't!!)

I wonder what percentage of their "1000 industry professionals" work for Zynga (or Apple, considering that Apple is apparently part of the industry)

Jobs 26%, Miyamoto 7%.

??

No troll is too much for me to handle. I rehabilitate trolls, I train people. I am the Troll Whisperer.

PS1 is important as it was the first system to use a disc.

Now every system uses a disk.

Jobs is popular these days with the high unemployment rate.

I can understand how the Apple help to mass market videogames with the appstore, but saying it was the most influential... that just doesn`t seem right.
Didn`t Nintendo help the gaming industry rise again after the crash in 1983? Would there be a gaming industry as we know it if it not for Nintendo?

ps1 being on that list is laughable. the vote was for influential not successful. to that end the iphone has been extremely influential in reshaping the market: the creation of a market for cheap disposable software. that said, the wii (motion controlls) and xbox live (multiplayer and dlc) probably deserve to be a bit closer in the spread but that's probably mostly because steve jobs just died and therefore more in the front of people's minds.

PS1 basically brought gaming to mainstream in Europe (before PS1 best selling console in Europe was Genesis at 8.65millio...).  That is pretty big feat in history of gaming.
