Forums - Gaming - US retailer selling Modern Warfare 3 now, Kmart's Call of Duty shipments arrive in boxes advising immediate sale

CVG

US retailer Kmart has reportedly begun selling copies of Modern Warfare 3 ahead of the game's official launch next Tuesday.

Kotaku was told by a Kmart employee that the retailer's shipments of the latest Call of Duty game arrived in boxes advising staff to begin selling the title immediately.

Apparently the boxes didn't feature the usual release date info they usually ship with, leading to early sales, copies of the game turning up on eBay, and videos of the title's menu screen and opening popping up on YouTube.

Activision is no doubt already on the case, but according to the Kmart employee, there's a good chance the game is currently on the shelves and ready to be purchased at a number of locations.

That is how i got my copy of Uncharted 3 early. Just find a store that is arrogant or clueless enough to put stuff on their shelves when it arrives

“It appeared that there had even been demonstrations to thank Big Brother for raising the chocolate ration to twenty grams a week. And only yesterday, he reflected, it had been announced that the ration was to be reduced to twenty grams a week. Was it possible that they could swallow that, after only twenty-four hours? Yes, they swallowed it.”

are people excited for MW3? hype seems dramatically down compared to previous years...

because its the guitars hero of shooter, one a year ? just a way to kill your cow

yes people are very excited and no not the type of people you see posing in video game message boards. The more casual console owners are very very excited, at least from what I can tell at my university.

At this point in time the hardcore Call of Duty fans are like Modern Talking fans. They mock CoD endlessly, but secretly buy it anyway.

..i dont' like COD but i could careless if someone else does.  it's just an observation that in previous years there were a lot of posting on new information around COD, trailers, direct feeds, count-downs, ect.  this year it seems like COD doesn't get brought up at all unless EA/BF makes yet another inflammatory remark.  i'm sure it will sell a ton of units but i dunno, people just don't seem to be anticipating it much ...

Epic. I bet they are all gone now.

*Couldn't care less (sorry to pull you up on it but it annoys me haha)

CoD is as big as it ever with people who don't follow games as closely as we all do but i agree hype around the net seems to be well down on previous years!
