More likely to happen with a less highly rated title first (e.g. the next Red Faction) as it would be more suitable as a guinea pig. GTA V is not the type of release to mess about and try something new and untested with.

You are wrong there considering the Red Faction franchise is finished.

I was more using Red Faction as an example. And out of curiousity have they actually confirmed that or is that just assumed as Armageddon was a sales flop?

THQ has said that it doesn't plan to continue developing further entries in the Red Faction franchise after Red Faction: Armageddon, the latest in the series, failed to meet expectations.

if this ever happens I will download a pirated copy instead just to make my point.

Just fuckin how pathetic are these analysts lol? Mixing up success of casual social smartphone games and thinking it applies to console games.

When I first read the headline I seriously thought Michael Pachter was the "analyst" in question, cuz this sounds exactly like something he would say lol.

Sounds nothing like what he'd say. He's one of the few on Bonus Round who always swats down the idea of there being download-only for major retail games when everyone else on that show starts talking about that being 'the future'.

Tru but at the same time he's always making similar asinine predictions, like saying there would be an upgraded "Wii HD" out by 2010 for example, and just prior to this past E3 he was predicting GTAV to be unveiled for a holiday 2011 or early 2012 release, and said that it would come out before Max Payne 3, which we now know of course is WAY off the mark.

You know I was always wondering why no one ever used the dollar sign for $ony, but then I realized they have no money so it would be pointless.

Lol, never gonna happen. R* would be screwing themselves out of millions if they decided to switch. I also find it funny how the 950 million dollars spent on digital content includes add-ons. As in add-ons for disc-based games. Just love how these analysts twist the truth to support their view. Like how you will now and forever hear how many times Angry Birds has been downloaded, but you won't hear how many of those are repeat downloads and how much they actually made off the game.

This would suck and really piss me off I really doubt it will happen. Currently my 80 gig phat PS3 is already aproaching it's full capacity and I do not want a slim model unless it was given to me for free. This is to early for digital games only unless they expect people to get new hard drives to fit it.

Dumb prediction. Like seriously dumb.

We all know this won't happen, but I don't think that HDD space will be a problem next gen, especially if Sony/MS upgrade the space like they did this gen.

Pachters successor?

    R.I.P Mr Iwata :'(

This guy makes Pachter look like a genious.
