Even for the next generation we might only see a mix of being able to purchase the game on retail or online at the same time.

Yeah right, that's very unlikely.

More likely to happen with a less highly rated title first (e.g. the next Red Faction) as it would be more suitable as a guinea pig. GTA V is not the type of release to mess about and try something new and untested with.

I don't think the internet-infrastructure exist to distribute something like GTA5 yet. And even if there is it is a awful idea
