Forums - Sony - Some guy on some site: Playstation Vita is The Game Boy of This Generation of Portable Consoles

http://www.bukisa.com/articles/587542_ps-vita-is-the-game-boy-of-this-generation-of-portable-consoles#ixzz1cCpyNmQZ

The Nintendo Game Boy was a master piece when it came out over 15 years ago. At that time it was the coolest gadget you could find with any kid around you who was a gamer. Boys who were lucky enough to have one bought for them by their parents or relatives (Uncles and Aunts)were often the kids who commanded attention and have their friends rallying around them during school hours and after school hours. Today it's a different ball game all together as we have mobile phones that can do almost the same thing a portable console can do and in some cases a lot more better if you consider phones like the  recently released Apple IPhone 4S which is more power than a lot of handheld consoles that are currently in the market.

The PS Vita will launch in Japan in the coming weeks and looking at what it has to offer compared to the other portables that are currently in the market (including the Nintendo 3DS) it would be fare to call it the king of Handheld gaming consoles of this generation. Nothing comes close enough to its power at the moment but we'll have to wait and see how that holds in the coming months.

Looking at the sleek design of it (oval shape) there is nothing as thrilling as getting your hands on one of those. The feeling has been exhilarating for those who have come close enough to touching it. And if you are one of those who have been able to hold it in your hands you sure are the luckiest around.

In the coming years we are going to be seeing lots of games and Apps coming from various developers who are currently developing their games and Apps for the console. But for now let's take a look at some of the cool things about this portable that makes it shine above others.

                                                             5 INCHES OLED SCREEN

The beautiful 5 inch OLED screen on it surely delivers on its promise. The games are a beauty to behold on the portable device and some of them are already coming close to what we see on the Ps3 at this early stage of the consoles life.  I can't imagine what it will be like at the later part of the console life.

QUAD CORE CPU AND QUAD CORE GPU

The console comes with a Quad Core CPU and a Quad Core GPU to go with it. It also spots a 640MB RAM in total (VRAM is 128MB and normal RAM is 512MB). With this it will be able to run a lot of programs in the background.  And this makes it even more powerful when compared to some portable gaming consoles that are currently in the market.

                                                              MULTI-TOUCH SCREEN AND INPUT

The multi-touch screen and touch pad at the back of it pretty much add up to its fun factor when playing games and interacting with Apps. It's really quite intuitive and will really compliment the dual analogue sticks and Dpad buttons that are used for controlling characters on the screens while playing games.

                                                                              SOCIAL APPS

With most of the popular social networks like Facebook, Twitter and Foursquare coming to the PS Vita it will be almost impossible to put the gadget down when you start playing with it. And if all that has been said about the external battery turns out to be true then gaming on the go will become more like gaming at home when you get your hands on this device. All in all it looks like the PS Vita will find a place in the hands and hearts of gamers who love to play their game on the go in a long time to come.

Let's wait for it to come out first ya?

PS One/2/p/3slim/Vita owner. I survived the Apocalyps3/Collaps3 and all I got was this lousy signature.

Xbox One: What are you doing Dave?

I think it's slightly premature to call something the king of the generation when the thing has yet to even be released.

i think Vita will provide allot of interesting gameplay elements and that could make it king from an innovative standpoint, but i'm not to sure about being king sells wise.

:lol Not even in a million years.

3DS Friend Code:   4596-9822-6909

Umm it's not even released yet, ....and its being called a "King"? From what i remember, people weren't buying 3DS because of the $250 price, and Vita will be that much too. I think we will be seeing the same start to Vita as we did 3DS.

                                  Gaming Away Life Since 1985

No, the Gameboy was defined by being behind the competetion technically but having the best battery life arround. Then it had a game that became a cultural phenomenon in Pokemon.

Vita so far has none of those things...

Check out my hype threads: Cyberpunk, and The Witcher 3!

I think the most important factor is which handheld will win the hearts of the children. I don't see the Vita doing that.
