Wait....your wrong.

All MS said was 15 million for their fiscal year ending in June.
Sony said 15 million for their fiscal year ending in March.

This is where the confusion is at. MS may start to outsell PS3, but I don't think difference will be big in either direction. Regardless MS never said it would outsell PS3 for 2011.

MS could break 15 million for their fiscal year ending in June, if they make a price cut early next year, or make hard drive upgrades which effectively work as a price cut.

Could you provide a link?  It is my understanding, and it seemed to be Seece's as well, that they meant the end of this year and not fiscal year.  Of course, I could be wrong.

Too lazy to look now. Look at whatever links you have that inspired this thread. I'm pretty sure both manufacturers said fiscal year, and for MS that's possible.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't MS sell over 14 million units in its last fiscal year?

Don't know what MS has planned to make a strong start for 2012, but it's possible, and your taking the information in incorrectly.

Actually, you are wrong.

"With the holiday season and major launches just around the corner, the second half of 2011 promises to make Xbox 360 history. The size of the Kinect games portfolio will triple by the end of the year and Xbox will bring new partnerships like UFC and Disney to the platform as well as blockbuster games, movies, music and TV together in one place. We expect Xbox 360 to maintain its lead and to be number one worldwide by the end of the year, selling more hardware units than PlayStation and Wii."  - Source

They speak about the 2nd half of 2011 in June.  Then go on to say by the end of the year, with no mention of the word fiscal.

In July, they again speak of doing great throughout the year ending 2011, not fiscal year.

August, pretty much the same thing.  MS speaks of being this year's best selling console, with no mention of the fiscal year.

So to me, it seems pretty clear they are speaking of the year 2011 and not their fiscal year 2011.  Though, if they do try to come out and change the goal to further down the road, as I said in my edit above, I still don't see them pulling it off.

Well that I think is impossible now, unless they make a ridiculous price cut post MW3.

I swear I read fiscal year before, I should keep sources.

Well, week ending Nov 5th is up, so here are the updated numbers.

As of week ending Nov 5th - 9,129,484(PS3) - 7,520,482(360) = 1,609,022 or ~230K over the PS3 for the next 7 weeks.

@ Michael - 5

It's cool, we all make mistakes. And I agree, it would take some crazy price cutting to even tie with the PS3 at this point. Something like a $149 250GB SKU and a Kinect price cut to $50.

you again! sup  anyway your right and wrong. MS wid say 15m by there fiscal yr ending June which is the 2011 yr. end for them. PS3 will still have out sold them for that period aswell. you could be the sells tracker if you.

where your wrong  at IS they did say the will out sell PS3 by yrs end. i remember the report. i thhink Seece has the link in the op of his official 360 will beat PS3 thread.

oh another thread

what happened to the original thread why hasnt the OP been around, i find it hard to buy this whole i lost interest in the discussions on VGC and only like a few posters on VGC, cause why would he then create multiple threads not to long ago that require updating, involve the community, and that will acquire future discussion activity if he didnt intended to be around for them?

i believe it still has a shot once we get to mid - lat Nov. we'll all know, even though i was the original poster for PS3 ruling the world in 2011 i still find it hard to believe that it would go on to outsell the 360 3 years in a row after they would alternate prior. unless MS is all about the benjamins which is possible seeing what they have with there accessory prices and online fees

in the end you cant solely base expectations on what a company says there going to do with there product, what do you want them to say?

Even then it's still very unlikely. They need to give out free 360's!!!

Lol, maybe.  I say a $149 SKU, but thinking about it, it would probably take a $99 SKU.  Of course, neither one of those are happening.

@ BHR-3

Idk.  Maybe he thought that the numbers would start to shift in MS's favor.  But when that didn't happen, he didn't wish to stick around for whatever aftermath may occur.  Only a guess.

And yes, the 360 is definitely going to start to outsell the PS3 after the release of MW3, but for how many weeks and by how much is the question.  But, even if the 360 does happen to outsell it for 7 straight weeks, there's no way it would average ~230K a week over.  Keep in mind that last year, for the same time period, the highest the 360 outsold the PS3 by was ~182K.  The average was ~120K.  Of course, I'm not even including the last week of the year, which will undoubtedly go to the PS3.

He corrected something I said in the NPD article, so he's around sometimes.  I'm not sure if he is still updating his thread, though.

Edit:  Oh nevermind.  He says he'll update his thread fortnightly (every two weeks).  Not sure why he wouldn't do it weekly, since we get numbers weekly.  Oh well, his thread.  (Nevermind about the crossed out part, has been explained.  )

What the hell are you talking about? I never once put MS on a pedestel here, and never said it would outsell PS3 for overall 2011 numbers. What the heck am I trying to weasle out of?

Nice to see you trying to label others. These type of posts are uncalled for in these forums.
