Forums - Microsoft - So Forza 4 Impressions. :)

So everyone would have had time to buy there copy of Forza 4 and get stuck in. So what do you think?

First thing that hit me was the polish. Its so well presented from the mixture of realworld and game footage in the intro to the beautiful menu screens.

ut lets get to it.

The career mode has had a very nice change. The world Tour mode as its now known is very good. Unlike previous iterations or oter games inn tis genre the world tour mode allows you much more freedom from the get go. In the first season you are offered several different locations to race at on varying classes if you so wish. IT feels fresh, exciting and personal.

Then theres the gameplay. Te cars you drive in feel alot better than Forza 3. You feel more in the car. Controlling slides feels more involved. Goin over bumps and curbs in ccockpit view will have the wheel chopping about, and this also happens wen you start 100mph+ as you dip over te bumps on te straights the weel will figt to get away from the clutches of the modeled ands holding it. Add to this a slight added screen shake depending on circumstance and it adds so muc more feel to the game.

The AI is also way ahead of previous atempts. Of course it still has its moments, but the majority of te time its impressive. AI makes mistakes like humans do. On only the first season a car in front of me lost it into the barrier which shot back across the track taking out a few other cars, launching some in the air from the  impact. The air system is also muc improved. Wheras in Forza 3 cars would barely roll or lift off often even when they should, Forza 4 is much more realistic in this regard now. It will happen when you expect it to.

Moving onto the visuals, well they are beautiful. Talking only of the ingame graphics here ( not the amazin replays or autovista ) te IBL ligtng is something I hope other games adopt. Its great to see not just the usual light, shadow and godrays but light affecting the tones of colours. A ed car can appear from pink to black depending on the angle and amount of light. Its a phenominal lighting system. The cars are amazingly detailed throughout every model and te environments are brilliant. Hell the water looks better than most shooters or adventure games ad its a racing sim title. ays alot for how impressive the enginne is.

Overall this game is alot better than Forza 3 in every way.

It also has the most features of the genre out there. More tracks than any other, more actual different makes and models than any oter genre and even  more paint, decals and tuning options than FM3 had. Add to that community  car clubs, auction houses, different game modes the list is endless. Its absolutely huge.

Turn 10 have done a  fantastic job and truly made FM3 sing now known as FM4.

P.S I forgot the sound. No other Racing gam sounds like this. They have got the engine sounds perfect. And in cockpit view some of the V8's sound incredible.

Whilst I agree with every point you make and I would add this IS the best racing game there is of this type... bar none, I think GT5 does have more tracks. But with extra cars and tracks coming all the time for Forza that may change. Forza def wins on the variety and quality of the cars though, you are right.

GT5 = 70 different tracks across 20 locations. FM4 = 129 different tracks across 24 locations. These are official numbers.

Noone bought this game?

I'm loving this game so much! It's pretty much all I've done this weekend.

Everything from Forza 3 has been improved and the only possible way the game could be any better was if it were to have Spa and Bathurst as track options.

Oh and the sound is amazing. Driving around in my 1970 Chevy SS with my 7.2 surround pumping is almost orgasmic.

user interface is superb
amazing sound
graphics much better than F3, although I find through HDMI I have to set the reference levels to standard and put the TV into cinema mode to turn down the black levels and contrast.
Only the jaggies give it away that this is a video game and other complaint is the sun glare off the track on certain tracks is very distracting.
Lots of content and heart beating racing.

Turn 10 I would love some more city tracks please

No spoiler alert? Some of us haven't played the game and you've ruined it for us!

ROFL.

Had a good time last night going through the Autovista challenges and unlocking the Halo 4 Warthog, which was quite a spectacle.
Also enjoyed how on my first race in career mode, a lucky coincidence allowed me allowed me to use my real world car.

The game is absolutely amazing in almost every way and I absolutely love it. There are however a few things that are annoying.

The AI are overly and unrealistically aggressive. They act like you aren't even there half the time and will run into you which is annoying as hell.

And I wish there was weather effect and night time racing. Also I wish the damage was better than it is and that there were at least 10-25 more tracks

But other than that the game is near perfection.
