Umm it's Fox news... what more do you need?

If it isn't turnbased it isn't worth playing   (mostly)

And shepherds we shall be,

For Thee, my Lord, for Thee. Power hath descended forth from Thy hand, That our feet may swiftly carry out Thy command. So we shall flow a river forth to Thee And teeming with souls shall it ever be. In Nomine Patris, et Filii, et Spiritūs Sancti. -----The Boondock Saints

Maybe that guy in the end doesn't realize it, but there is a distinct line between a Republic, which is what the US is, and a Democracy.

i was just about to say this.

also its unfortunate that their trainers havent taught these parots any new lines. they always just regurgatate the same thing over and over again, most of them probably dont even know why they are on wallstreet right now

Republic and democracy describe different aspects of government. Being a republic simply means your are not a monarchy, being a democracy means that your government is elected. America is both a republic and a democracy.

And one more thing. It is a shame that the Occupy Movement can't score properly on the style scale, complete with leadership driving it, and it providing a 10 step program that everyone can agree to, which would lead the world into a perpetual state of prosperity.

the mayor doesn't seem to be scared. he knows winter is nearing, and I say hes confident people wont stay out in the cold lol

The entire movement is full of people who don't seem to understand why it would be a bad idea to take on tens of thousands of dollars in debt to get a "useless" degree, and are completely unable pay for their needs after they have bought their designer clothes and fancy gadgets ...

In other words, what does anyone in this movement know about being successful or providing prosperity for anyone (including themselves)?

I love how these people are essentially the Tea Party with the opposite ideology, yet somehow they're the scum of the Earth.

You're another one of those people who has no ideea what those two terms mean (and that they're not mutually exclusive, as they refer to different aspects of a state).

A democracy gives full control of the country and its laws and policy to the majority.

A republic guarantees certain fundamental rights regardless of the opinion of the majority.

The USA is a republic.

And what is a democratic republic?

As sapphi_snake said, they aren't mutually exclusive.

A republic with an unneeded prefix.

Well that or a government that holds rigged elections but pretends to be democratic... ala East Germany.

Republics protect minorities.  Democracies don't.  In a Democracy if 50.1% of the country wants something... it gets it no matter what.

If this isn't the case.... it's  republic.

There is no inbetween.  It's purely analog.

Canada has a charter of rights and freedoms that guarantees individual's rights but I have never heard it referred to as a republic.

That was sad.

Someone sent me a video of a kid talking about this mess (I think it was over the weekend) with a reporter.  He was upset because he cannot find a job to start paying off his $250,000 student loans....I mean really?  He didnt have a job during college, went to an out of state University (fucking expensive!), even made car payments with his loans.  Shit, I took out a loan in college and I was required to go through a date conselling session before I was allowed to borrow past $5,000 a semester!

He went on to talk about how a $9 an hour job is demeaning after spending all that money for schooling.   How people can think that paying off a huge student loan wont be a problem, Ill never know.  its one thing if you are going into a field where you know you will make a good deal of money (doctor, lawyer, etc) but undergrad?

Every time I hear any of these kids talking (and I say kids cause I could easily be one of them) I just get this overwhelming sense of entitlement.  That they are OWED well paying jobs.  That they are OWED a piece of the Corporate Pie.

I dont get it.  When I got out of school and couldnt find a career, I worked at the damn bookstore for $8.50 an hour until I found a well paying job.  It would have been more demeaning for me NOT to work, than to work for barely over minimum wage.

One thing that can happen, with individuals who say have an advanced degree, is they go to work at a convenience store or book store, the person whio sees them with their degree will feel they are overqualified, and not hire them.  Things like that do happen.  It is life.
