In other words, what does anyone in this movement know about being successful or providing prosperity for anyone (including themselves)? |
Someone sent me a video of a kid talking about this mess (I think it was over the weekend) with a reporter. He was upset because he cannot find a job to start paying off his $250,000 student loans....I mean really? He didnt have a job during college, went to an out of state University (fucking expensive!), even made car payments with his loans. Shit, I took out a loan in college and I was required to go through a date conselling session before I was allowed to borrow past $5,000 a semester!
He went on to talk about how a $9 an hour job is demeaning after spending all that money for schooling. How people can think that paying off a huge student loan wont be a problem, Ill never know. its one thing if you are going into a field where you know you will make a good deal of money (doctor, lawyer, etc) but undergrad?
Every time I hear any of these kids talking (and I say kids cause I could easily be one of them) I just get this overwhelming sense of entitlement. That they are OWED well paying jobs. That they are OWED a piece of the Corporate Pie.
I dont get it. When I got out of school and couldnt find a career, I worked at the damn bookstore for $8.50 an hour until I found a well paying job. It would have been more demeaning for me NOT to work, than to work for barely over minimum wage.
