Who will win?

Chicago Blackhawks 12 80.00%

Tampa Bay Lightning 3 20.00%

Total:15

The Blue Jackets won their first game, and it was against the Red Wings.

I just wanted to say this.

It was a great game between the Philadelphia Flyers and the Winnipeg jets last night it was 9 to 8 for the jets. It seemed like a baseball score and was really exciting I am glad to see Winnipeg start winning. Most of the top teams have been losing lately which is interesting after last seasons worst team Edmonton beats the NHLs best Washington Capitals. What a wild season it has been.

Good games tonight as Detriot takes on San Jose and the blackhawks take on the hurricanes of course I will be watching Edmonton vs Colorado. It is a battle of the two top draft pick rookies as Edmonton's Ryan Nugent-Hopkins a great goal scorer takes on Gabriel Landeskog of Colorado that is a more well rounded in my opinion. He can score and makes a lot of assists is very physical and plays on the penalty kill at age 18. He also seems like a goal scorer that gets hot at important times as he has tied games late for the avs twice already.

Goals seem down a little as there are a lot of great goaltenders in the league now.

Detroit is finally playing the way I expected them to. Going 5-0-0 to start the season was very unusual even for me as a Wings fan. Their goaltending situation is a mess IMO. Great work by Columbus on earning that first win. Hopefully things pick up now that they've got some confidence from beating a team like the Wings. Hopefully this isn't a sign of the Wings crashing and burning though.

Leafs are still playing well and they're showing a lot of heart even when they're down. I've said it before and I'll say it again because (to me) it's a big difference from last year. As for Vancouver and Montreal... it's quite sad to see these teams struggling (moreso Montreal as I'm a fan). Hopefully things pick up.

And I haven't mentioned them yet but... Daaaaaamn! Look at them Capitals go! We've seen this before from Washington (and San Jose). Hopefully they can bring their A-game to the post season. It would be nice to see Ovi lift the cup.

Haha your the only reason I do not come in here and trash Detriot every time they lose. Cannot help not liking them as they have been the Avs chief rifal since 1997 when the Avalanche first entered the league.

Personally surprised Montreal is cold right now. Also glad Vancouver has been just because I am a Colorado fanboy.

Still it is good that Toronto has stayed on top and score quite a lot of goals. Toronto is in a really tough division especially facing challenges from Buffalo and Boston all the time so it will be interesting to see how everything plays out.

Does anyone think that either Toronto or Edmonton are for real?

I'm not so sure...

I have seen several Toronto games and they have Phil Kessel a the leages top scorer and and point guy by a lot. They never seem spectacular, but I think they will make the playoffs.

Edmonton was the worst team last year and as far as I know the only added the great rookie Ryan Nugent -Hopkins who undoubtobly will win rookie of the year. Other than that they only added Ryan Smith their old but rough and tough well rounded forward. They play a good defensive game and have had great goaltending so they could keep it up. If Vancouver does not improve and Colrado does not stay consistantly above average than I can see them making the playoffs. Edmonton finishing # 1 in the Northwestern division still seems like a joke to me.

Of course, as I have said in the thread teams bounce around every year in who plays hot because of too much parity. I predict Toronto to be the better team in the end.

By points it is Pittsburg, but they also played the most games. I would say Washington as the have been the most consistant only losing to Vancouver. Philadelphia is also a great goal scoring team.

The West just seems to close in ability to call a real best team at the moment in my opinion and thanks for giving me a reason to talk about this so I do not move to GAF for good.

yeah I do not think teams on the west coast get too much recognition. When it was the Tacoma Rainiers for our Triple A team that was sort of popular.

Eastern teams in every sport get more recognition purely because most of the population and money is on the East side. The Pacific Division is so packed with decent/good teams that it is hard for any of the to stand out. Of course, most analysts say San Jose and LA are the best.

@ spurgeonryan Most of the Western Conference is good.

You can't go wrong with the Blackhawks at 6-2-2. :p

@ Amp I watched some Chicago games and plan to follow them as my 2nd team on NHL gamecenter live on PS3. Anyway they do seem like the early best team in the West. I bet you have been loving Detroit's performance as I have.

And what do you say on the matter. super fan put aside.

Well I would go with San Jose they have a strong lineup and a recent history of playing bad early and then playing increadible late. Just at the right time.
