In uncharted you can fall, you are not 'auto corrected' and Platforming is a KEY part of combat..especially apparent in its MP. it's not 'easy' to utilize it properly. using platforming efficiently and properly could decide which side has an advantage over the other for example.also platforming is important in stealth modes. alsp platforming is VERY important in team objective matches, the better you are at it...the better your team will be.

i can't stoop to your level of taking facts out of your ass to talk about a game i haven't even played before. i won't hit a low point like that. tho you already have. don't run away from questions...i asked you if you have played the pop games and if you have PLAYED Gears. and to tell us WHY exactly you don't think uncharted is master of 'none'..but alas being who you are you are incapable of it aren't ya? or just tell me..in a clear manner ..uncharted is master of 'none' because......

the things I said about you aren't 'insults' at least not meant to be... it's just how it is :) the sooner you man up, admit you were full of it..and move on, the better. but I doubt you are such a person. trying to be funny and witty and all that is fine..even if you fail...but dragging it beyond that is just sad of you..but expected.

There were no "facts" in my last reply, because I had to ask if you are even interested in an actual discussion.

I have played and beaten Tomb Raider Legend, Anniversary, Underworld and Prince of Persia: Sands of Time, Warrior Within, The Two Thrones and 2008. So all games of those series with the exception of last year's PoP. Now the question I have is why did you mention those games as examples when you now say that Uncharted's platforming works differently? At that point it was already established that I have not played Uncharted, so why bring up these games to give me an idea of how Uncharted works when apparently that is not the case? This just makes the whole thing fuzzy and because of that I will withdraw from this argument, but not without saying that Uncharted's platforming can't compete with the kind of platforming found in an actual 3D platformer, because that point will stand no matter what.

I haven't played Gears of War, so all I can really go by are the opinions of people who played both GeoW and Uncharted. If these people say, for example, that Uncharted's shooting mechanics are mediocre or that GeoW's multiplayer options are far superior, then I feel inclined to believe that this is the case. Now if you put these two points together (Uncharted's platforming aspects not being able to compete with 3D platformers and its shooting mechanics being mediocre), then it should be easy to understand how I could arrive at the conclusion "jack of all trades, master of none". Don't forget that I acknowledged that the sum of Uncharted is bigger than its individual parts.

But honestly, was this whole argument really about Uncharted in the first place? Or was it more about me? Looking back you could have just as easily responded to Machina's post which wasn't any less "offensive" than mine. But the way this back and forth went, it's pretty obvious that you were looking for an opportunity to badmouth me.

I think I've addressed everything. I have told you what I played and what I haven't, why I said what I originally posted and beyond that there is not much of a reason for me to come back to this thread, because the one aspect of Uncharted that I could have somewhat discussed isn't what I thought it would be based on a previous post of yours. This isn't to say that I will run away. If there are any questions left I will of course take note.

I was the one who said I wanted specific aspects of uncharted that you know for certain are not up to par with others..and asked for a proper discussion. Unlike you i have played all games in question and hence unlike you i know what I'm talking about.

the details I laid out was about the 'MP" aspect of uncharted and platforming...in the sp pop games and TR games are some of the most known that we can draw comparisons. it's a different type of platforming. it's not mario..its not sonic..heck its not even R&C. the approach is different. it's like saying shooting in FPS suck cuz you in your opinion think that TPS shooting is better, harder. there is no way you can back such claims with facts. hence why one should draw comparisons with similar games that belong to that sub genre. i won't compare a tps to a fps for shooting mechanics cuz that's just silly, despite both using 'shooting' elements.similar example would be comparing gt physics to burnout physics. both are racing but the approach is different.

you made a statement about a game you haven't played. do you even udnerstand how stupid that is? i have been told nsmb and smg are rather boring and crappy compared to R&C by some of my friends. but i am not stupid enough to take their words at 100%. I am definitely not stupid enough to make dumb remarks about the overall game just because he said she said, unlike you. I gave those games a try to form my own opinion. so for example when i say mario platformers in general are rather boring in comparison to others..that's MY opinion that i have formed from MY experiences. if i go into a nintendo thread and say hey NSMB SUCKS!or its the same old forumla ...it's so damn boring etc...WITHOUT playing the game..I would be trolling. simple as that.

I did exactly what you asked for. What am I really supposed to do here?

All I get from this is that Uncharted's platforming is superior to the ones found in Tomb Raider and Prince of Persia, but that's not exactly a high bar. Far from making Uncharted a master of platforming. Unless you want to break subgenres down so far that we have to crown a game for being excellent in FPS platforming, but that would be silly.

I am not refering to some friends that might as well not exist, but members here on VGC who went on record to say just that. They can be held accountable. So how about starting a new thread to discuss Uncharted's mechanics indepth, both the platforming and the shooting? I'd like to see if your claims of how awesome Uncharted is actually hold up or if there are differing opinions that can be backed up.

It was all about me. Always. You either read the original post and then respond or you read through the entire thread first. Since you somehow catched my reply I have to assume that you read the entire thread, because, since according to you, you don't care specifically about me and don't actively look out for my posts. And if, according to you, you were only looking for "bullshit" to call out, then why did you skip Machina's post? So there's two options we are looking at:

1) You just lied about don't caring about me.

2) The shooting mechanics in Uncharted are indeed mediocre (EDIT: the exact words were "quite average", doesn't change the overall point though), because you made no objections to Machina's post.

why should I argue with machina? :S in HIS opinion of a game he had actually played..he found the platforming to fun and memorable while didn't like the shooting mechanics. which is completely fine. you on the other hand pull out facts out of your ass and try to too hard to be funny..and fail. :) you are not 'special' lol so don't get your hopes up

I was talking about accountability and backed up opinions which isn't remotely the same thing you are accusing me of. I looked up a Gears of War 2 vs. Uncharted 2 thread and excluding the blatantly biased posts, more people were leaning towards Gears of War 2, mentioning better mechanics and multiplayer. Uncharted 2's singleplayer was considered superior, but that really isn't a shocker. In the end I couldn't really see anything that would prove you right and I obviously can't be bothered to look through more threads to find proof for your claims. That's your job, after all.

So Machina holding this opinion is completely fine, but me saying that there are more people out there that think exactly the same as Machina is not? Whether or not I had first hand experience with Uncharted doesn't change the fact that there are more people than just Machina who think that Uncharted's shooting mechanics are quite average. What you need to understand is that I am not talking about my experience (why should I, I had none), but the experience of other gamers. Ones that have credibility and not those who are lying simply because the game is on a platform they do not like.

EDIT: And to make it clear, I don't even intend to try to discuss Uncharted and opinions on it any further. I am only coming back to defend myself from the accusations thrown at me and explaining why I said the things I said previously.

Agree to disagree here and just leave the thread or at least just leave each other alone.  It's an internet forum-- it doesn't matter who is right and there's no more honor than leaving than staying in thread pointlessly arguing.  The only thing keeping up this argument is going to do is get one or both of you warned/banned if you keep getting worked up over nothing.

Seriously, again, it's an internet forum.  There's no need to get this worked up.  Just stop replying and it will all end.

I would call the first an Action/Adventure tales with good dose of 3rd person shooter. U2 is definitely a 3rd person shooter with very light elements of A/A. It's why I am not all that excited about U3. I think they are gonna take away most of the A/A elements which is what made me enjoy the first game so much more than the second.
