thx1139 said: Well it looks like after BF week that the difference could be right about 1 million with 5 big weeks left. Also remember the truly big weeks in Japan are after January 1st and Japan is trending down YoY. This week PS3 was down about 50% compared to last year. Averaging a 200K per week lead is possible, but will be interesting to see what MS does marketing wise to see it happen. This week and next week don't seem to have the special deals like were going on the weeks leading up to BF week and including BF week for the 360. It also seems that Sony only put out a limited amount of the PS3 holiday bundles and they are no longer selling them. I suspect MS will be ramping up the special deals with a blow out week before Christmas planned. I expect that week to see a lot of $100 gift card offers. What about Europe thought what is happening over there? |
I agree, I think Xmas week is where we're going to see a big gap. FFXIII-2 is out the week before in Japan so won't affect those numbers. It's unlikely X360 will be below BF numbers, they're normally an indication of what demand will be like xmas week, so something like 1.4M, with PS3 around 1 mill? another 400k win, with smaller wins the weeks before, and a much smaller win just before xmas due to Japan.
Wow, awesome sales and less than a million to go... It's quite possible now. I can't wait for the next update.
In 3 weeks time, it closed the gap by 635K, with 5 weeks left to go to do 926K, PS3 would really need to dominate EMEAA completely if it were to stay ahead.
In other words, Xbox 360 will most likely peak this year and be ahead! :) (I really can't see it pulling it off again next year, even with a price cut atm...)
I'll be looking forward to the next update Seece, oh and you were right it seems ^^
Xbox still aint gunna win this year, I reckon the Ps3 will win it by at least 500k.
Ps3 will still win this by at least 500k. I expect japans sales to go up with final fantasy 13-2 coming out aswell.
Does anyone honestly expect 13-2 to raise PS3 hardware that much? I don't think so, so i don't get why people are even using that as an argument to help the PS3.

This. While it was the biggest Black Friday week for the 360, many are forgetting (understandably with how much the 360 sold) this was the PS3's biggest Black Friday week, also, slightly beating '09's numbers. We are going to start to see boosts beginning in EMEAA and Japan, regions that favor (greatly favor in Japan) the PS3.

Because of the special Japan bundles it does raise the PS3 numbers quite a bit, Tales of Xillia for instanc eboosted the PS3 sales by almost 60k on Japan on the launch week.
