Will update after MS shipments, (adjus. or no adjust.) and then after Sony shipments.

Microsoft numbers. Adjustments. New Yearly Charts. No updates?

Waiting for Ninty/Sony numbers?

Well it seems this thread is a lost cause now...

I find it worrisome how so many fall back into old habits. The era of price cuts tipping the balance is largely behind us as far as this generation is concerned. Lower price points have already been exploited to maximum effect. That is why the PS3 price cut wasn't dramatically effective, and that is why Microsoft isn't likely to bother following suit. It really isn't worth the lost profits for the miniscule bump.

We are in a new era, and it isn't so much about the price or the games for that matter. What is really going to matter in the run towards the finish is features and marketing. What is going to determine whether Microsoft can win is how well the new dashboard is received. You have to understand that streaming entertainment is exploding right now, and frankly it is the wave of the future. Before the end of the year in North America you might see as many as one hundred million streaming their entertainment during prime time.

The moral of the story is this. If Microsoft runs a massive campaign championing their dashboard with a dozen or so streaming providers. Plus being Kinect enabled which makes mortals feel like gods. You better believe the 360 will explode in sales. Microsoft insinuating itself as a premier streamer through their live service is like riding a very big wave. Really it is a question of grace if they pull it off flawlessly. Many of you could end this year scratching your heads trying to figure out just how Microsoft pulled two million units ahead of the PS3.

I would like to make a conservative prediction in saying that Microsoft will be finishing this year at least a million units ahead of Sony. Yes I said what you think I just said, and I am so terribly confident in my prediction. I am more then willing to entertain bets up to and including account deletion.

I still want to know what inspired this prediction. Not making fun of him or anything. I'm genuinely curious what made him think this was a possibility.

i believed the PS3 would win 2011 b/c it was evident there would be no threat from the wii, i didnt think x-box would be a threat to it in 2011 b/c it was a odd year, odd yrs have been good to the PS3 when comparing it to the X-box (07 was a close race and was really the start of good things to come, 09 saw PS3 start of sales explosions) and b/c the PS3 out sold it in 09 and 10

i do believe that for this yr the X-box will win idk i think it has something to do with GTA, gta4 for was a shocker when it was not only announced for the X-box but that it had timed DLC.  i think that if gta releases this yr that MS should cut the price at that time i believe that would be the nail in the coffin as far as Sony having any chance of wining in 2012.   the last two yrs have shown that the X-box can keep up with PS3 sales wise w/o a price cut, its almost certain that it will have one this yr so i believe it will be closer than ever if it doesnt outsell it.  theres also alot of other stuff that make me believe this yr will favor the X-box besids what the stars have shown me.   games that are low on the radar but i feel will be pretty huge when released similar to RDR these games are ME3, halo4, maxpayne3, gta, COD BO2 and it being and even yr, although some of these games are multi they will get most of there sales and will be advertised for the x-box

@ the other guy that posted above me it was said in the summer of 2011 that NPD would include wallmart in the future idk if/when that ever happened, prior though NPD would use (something that i dont like to use) a educated guess to what the other retailers sold instead of completely excluding them as some thought

Shouldn't you have just started a new thread? It would be a whole heck of a lot less confusing for newcomers to the thread, as well as look more tidy.
