I'm still confused to how MS saying they shipped 66 million again is going to help this thread.

Yeah but if they ship 66.5 Million, then we can debate just why they overshipped by so much.

Yeah, but the thread was not xbox 360 will overtake playstation 3 in shipment and win 2011.
Actually Nintendo and Sony will determine the reality of this confusing data we got from MS. I still think all consoles are down from 2010.

To psrock:
Since PS3 lauched worldwide, XBOX360 was always shipped less than PS3 in the past every year. If XBOX360 reached to more than 66M units, it may bring the first chance for the first time Microsoft sold more consoles than Sony (for the manufacturer, "sold" means "shipped" ).
So it will help this tread. Of course, we need to wait till Sony releases their FY report.

Microsot already shipped more than Sony in some quarters.
To me, nobody really knows how much consoles sell, that's only extrapolations with some inaccuracy, the only thing we could know for sure are shipments. To me, this year is definitely a tie between 360 and PS3, the inaccuracy must be too high to tell who really wins. It seems PS3 is having a hard time catching 360 LTD sales, when slim PS3 released we thought that PS3 would pass 360 in a year or 2 but that was not the case, the gap stood the same. The only thing I see for the PS3 to catch 360 are price cuts, as Europe (PS3-dominated) is more sensitive to price that America. In the long run I still give the PS3 the victory.

Even if you don't trust VGC NPD, Gfk, Media Create, and SIRAS (Nintendo's tracking firm) are reliable sources with very very small margins for error, especially now that NPD gets Walmart data. And since VGC adjusts their numbers based on those tracking firms' data you can assume their numbers are good.

Impressive 3DS performance, particularly considering the bad start and that it hasn't got even a whole year.
Kudos both to PS3 and XB360, so good in the middle of their total lifecycle, and even later considering just their lives as main products.
XB360 could be furtherly adjusted 200 to 400k up still leaving PS3 a small margin victory, almost a statistical tie, but both were really impressive in different periods of the year, and maybe not fighting each other directly in the same periods was the secret of success for both.
PSV: bad start, but we saw with 3DS what can happen after.
Teh d0m3d portable just 23% down and very close to the formerly unbeateble, almighty DS! :-O
