So I am starting to get games that don't run as somthly as I would like with high settings (a problem that is only going to get worse over the coming months with Batman: AC, Skyrim and next year with, Metro: Last light and Bioshock infinite) now I could probably pull the trigger on a MSI nVidia GTX560 Ti Twin Frozr II OC 1G DDR5 for nz$343.85 next week or I could save up a couple months for a PS3 ~nz$448.00 new (I could probably get a cheaper one seccond hand) but then i wouldn't have any games for a couple weeks at least for the PS3 but I could finnally play some of those console exclusives I have been missing out on.

My origonal plan was to wait until next gen cards came out but that is looking like it will be Q1 next year at this rate. What complicates the issue a little bit is that the computer that my little brothers game on (mostly league of legends and minecraft) is having some issues with their current card so I would be helping them out by giving them my old card.

And no I am not going to let this poll make the final decision

P.S. don't forget to leave a comment ;) words speak louder than poll resaults

Oh wow those two seem expensive relative to prices in Canada and we canadians complain about how things are even more cheaper in US. I need to upgrade my card too but will also need to upgrade the power supply.

So yea i don't know much about PC upgrades but it would be best to save your money now and get the 560 Ti or 570 next year as the prices might drop. I am sure like most gamers you might have a big backlog to play through with your current video card.

Yea prices are basically extortion here lol (tho keep in mind prices include the 15% GST tax)

Anyway imagine how much better those backlog games could look and run on a GTX560 Ti! I could add the extra effects on the Witcher 2 for my Dark run though well I wait for the sadly delayed on PC Batman :(

well you can always wait for next gen cards. As this always happens every 6-12 months. I normally skip one or two generations and currently have a 560 Ti.

If your current setup is going bad, you could get a 460 gtx. You wouldn't notice a huge difference from the TI. And then get the next generation. Here, at some places it's almost a 100 USD cheaper than the 560 TI. But I don't know if that points matters. I bought the 560 TI afterall.

What card do you have now?

If you've never had a ps3, That has a lot of awesome games. All those games you listed come out on ps3 too I think. (though I hate playing elder scrolls on console. it's still an option).

I can't really say there's a write answer to this, just what you want.

i currently have a HD 5770, the GTX 560ti is just almost twice as powerful (which is usally my usual leap for an upgrade) and the MSI is factory overclocked a bit

Also as I have grown up with mouse and keyboard I much prefer it over a controler even in some 3rd person action games (and I have a 360 pad for those that do feel better) and even the 5770 puts out a better quality than a PS3 in most multiplatform games and I hate screen tearing so I almost always force VSync on PC

If you want more games, go for PS3. If you want better graphics, then you should go for the GPU.

The way I see it, you may as well get the PS3 because it just had a price drop. There might be a price cut on the GPU by the time you save up for that as well. Its not like your GPU failed or something, you can still play the PC games.

edit: Ok so your brother's problem...then maybe you should get a new GPU. Depends upon how much it would help him. If there was no other way for your brother than yeah you can solve 2 problems with GPU whereas the PS3 will just be sitting there with no games.

I would definetly wait a die shrink happens soon and not only this but new architecture is coming to. Fermi was used in the GTX 4xx series too also between GTX 4xx series and GTX 5xx series was no die shrink.

The GTX 6xx series is worth waiting for just 3-4 months and you get 28 nm Kepler and not 40 nm Fermi like GTX 4xx and 5xx series. Which means a lot more power for the same price and definetly more future proof.

I would endure the new games with lower settings for the next months to get a bigger jump later

based on wht your saying i can only provide a priority percentage.

wait till next yr (30%)
PS3 (20%)
GTX560 Ti (50%)

from what I have been hearing production may start in Q4 but they won't be available until Q1 next year for Kepler http://www.fudzilla.com/home/item/23989-28nm-kepler-production-this-year and there may even be slight delays to 28nm. There is a slim chance that the 7000 series will hit this year but I am hearing that they are focusing on bringing the GPGPU and the top end stuff up more than focusing on gaming performance so I am not sure how much of an advantage that will have in the high midrange TBH.
