“Hudson’s” Bloody Roar 5 Announcement Appears To Have Been A Hoax

This past weekend, Hudson announced Bloody Roar 5, a reboot of the series, for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, slated for a 2012 release…or did they?

The announcement was made via what everyone believed to be Hudson’s official Twitter account. The reality of the situation is, the Twitter feed appears to be manned by someone that’s been “role-playing” as Hudson very convincingly since March 2011.

This morning, the person managing the Twitter account posted: “NEW BLOODY ROAR 5 IMAGE!” Clicking on the tweet directed one to the image on the right.

Another tweet posted a few minutes later stated: “Bloody roar doesn’t have a chance against [Street Fighter] SF, [Tekken] TK, [Soulcalibur] SC. Sorry guys ;)”. For now, we’re going with the likely assumption that the account is indeed fake.

Prior to learning that the account was fake, we reached out to Konami early this morning in light of the odd tweets, asking whether Hudson’s Twitter had been compromised in some way, but have received no reply. We’ll update if we do.

Hudson teases fighting game sequel.

A new entry in the Bloody Roar fighting game series is in development. Developer Hudson Soft teased the new project on Twitter today.

They wrote: “New Bloody Roar sequel, is in production! we’ll post more soon!”

The latest title in the franchise, Bloody Roar 4, released on PlayStation 2 in 2003.

In May, Konami announced that they would be leveraging Hudson’s network expertise to help create social games based on popular Konami brands. That said, it looks like Hudson may have a future outside of social games yet.

Today, they tweeted that new game in their Bloody Roar fighting games series is in production. It will be a retail title and more of a series reboot. The original cast will return, including Hans, Mitsuko, and Greg.

Bloody Roar 5 is planned for release sometime in 2012. What platforms the game will be available on hasn’t been announced yet.

Interesting. I've never really played a Bloody Roar game, but I will definitely be looking out for this one. Of course, it's going to be tough with the other fighters.

Yup i love this series, and whenever the announcer says "BACKURYU!" it sounds like "FUCKER-YOU!"

I remember playing Primal Fury years ago on the GC, I will certainly be keeping an eye on this.

I also had the GC version. Awesome game and one of the best fighters i have played.

from what i can remember it was bloody shit!

it wasnt all that, but mindless fun, i still play the first 2 off of PSN and the GC one was pretty fun
