True, sort of. But I firmly believe it wont outsell Uncharted 2. It's not controversial to say it will be slightly outsold by UC2 and end around 5 million?

That's fair. I actually don't think it'll outsell UC2 either.

But you gotta admit, your 'more of the same' comment is uncalled for. The MP is levels ahead of UC2 from what I've played. The games has split screen added. That's great. As for the single-player, we haven't seen much, but I'm sure it's still going to be fresh. The cargo trailer really showed some nice improvements. The biggest one being the fight mechanics. I don't think I've ever seen a fight scene that well implemented in a game before.

I think the only thing that will make or break its chances of matching or going above UC2 sales LT will be PS4 reveal

and I don't think he has played the MP beta..no one in their right mind can say it's more of the same about the MP aspect if they had played it

No I havent played the beta but I also dont think the MP of Uncharted is that big of a selling point. Of course UC2 gained customers thanks to the MP addition but mainly Uncharted is seen as a cinematic adventure and if preexisting PS3 owners havent picked up UC2 they probably wont buy UC3 either.

Anyway, how dramatic is the change in MP?

the first point, it's true even I believe to the fans Uncharted series is first and foremost is about its SP experience BUT MP in UC2 surprised a lot of people. It was fun, fluid and addictive. I have played the SP about 3 times over now but have spent so so many hours on the MP. As of now, for me and many others, UC3 is gonna be the whole package, great sp and a fantastic MP

MP has changed a lot..with a lot of additions to the coregameplay. I won't get into the smaller changes here but to mentions some of the more drastic changes

1. Powerplays

so in a nutshell, imagine one team is ahead of the other team by around 5-10 kills then powerplays kick in. the losing side will be given some sort of an advantage for a very short period of time. THIS is imho is a brilliant idea! it makes the whole match so intense. no longer blah we are ahead/behind 10kills this is getting boring crap...it keeps you on your toes and there's always a chance for a turnaround.

2. medal kickbacks

there are way more medals for to earn this time around for various things..and using these you can use your medal kickback. some of these are basic, like equip a RPG with one round (or was it two :S can't remember) etc BUT they have also added some real interesting ones like the Creepy Crawler kick back..where yu turn into hundreds of bugs and attack the enemies! ..this is the only one i didn't get a chance to use in the mp beta :(

there's more..but we had threads and threads about it a while back to talk about the details :P don't wanna type it all out. but one last thing to note..anti-camping behavior is HEAVILY supported in this MP...may it be maps or medals etc. overall it's a big jump and a fantastic jump at that

Okay, I hear you. I like those additions, especially powerplays for more even battles.

yep, unless you have a really really sucky team you can totally turn the game around. I had it go both ways for me few times, losing and winning with momentum built up from powerplays...and i actually never felt bad even if I lost..cuz it was that intense and fun!

Controversial topic!

Do I think it will? Not necessarily, but I think it could. Reasons:

-Sony first party games dont tend to sell well

-The game is not burning up the Amazon charts to date Isn't that what VGC's pre-order charts are for? Where it says it has 250k pre-orders, compared to a 415k launch for 2, suggesting that it will beat the last game

-Heavy competition Well yeah, but it will certainly rise above most of the competition in terms of reviews

-Lack of same graphical awe factor as 1 and 2. Other games have caught up. Still one of the best looking games, but not head and shoulders above anymore arguably Have you looked at any of the footage, only Gears 3 is actually close

-Lack of popular multiplayer What? Uncharted 2 multiplayer had a good dedicated user base, and the beta for 3 was really popular and well receieved

So basically; no

This.

U3 is arguably the most anticipated PS3 exclusive since MGS4. It wont do those numbers FW thats certain, but it will probably manage around 1 million FW and 4-5 million LT, maybe even more if reviews will be at least close to U2. It wont be of the magnitude of CoD, Halo, Gears or GT, but it will be big.
