Excellent Gears 3 opening.

I'm finding it hard to believe it caused THAT much of a boost to console numbers, though. What did Reach boost it by last Year, for comparison?

Halo reach:

week one 156K

week two 115k



Iirc, there was a similar one for Reach? Not 100% sure. What was the % increase?

Why is resistance 3 doing so bad? It doesn't look like it will do that much more than a million if it reaches a million.

Maybe those are RROD replacements which people didn't have any reason to fix during first 8 months of 2011 ;)

It's not that surprising.  The franchise is rising in popularity and there were great bundles and custom 360 console available.  That measn:

1 - you get some new fans buying a console along with the game as a bundle

2 - you get existing fans trading in standard 360 for a custom

3 - you get a general boost to the baseline due to advertising, new title, etc.

All this combines to give a nice boost.  It'll drop off fairly quickly most likely in terms of HW.  Growing franchises tend to get heavier on the front for bundle pickup, etc. but I expect Gears to have plenty of SW legs as well.



Try to be reasonable... its easier than you think...

dayuuuum look at that 360 go! Nice boost thanks to GoW3 and it sold 2mil in america alone, that is quite impressive. It will easily reach 200k+ this week, I'm guessing it will land at 235k.

Gears 3 did great, I'm surprised that it nearly doubled hardware sales.

It's also cool to see a game like Dead Island do well, those Eastern European developers have had a pretty good couple of years with The Witcher 2, Metro 2033, Amnesia, Two Worlds and the Sniper series and their progress has been amazing so far.



Bet with Conegamer and AussieGecko that the PS3 will have more exclusives in 2011 than the Wii or 360... or something.

Don't think so. I think 200k max, most likely around 190k.


I'm pretty sure EMEAA most have moved at least 80k, if not 100k.
