Forums - Gaming - Wada: Final Fantasy XIV "damaged" Final Fantasy Brand

I decided to take the risk and buy FFXIV and despite some very obvious flaws (like the map system), it's the most fun I've ever had on an MMO in a long while. The game is much better than the sum of its parts and WAY better than reviews make it out to be.

I got a great idea Wada, lets make a remake of FF10 (worst FF ever) for the vita and only for the vita, and don't worry about our past comments on a FF7, FF8 or FF9 remakes being too expensive to remake because we were talking out our asses. Also lets keep the DQ games exclusive to Nintendo platforms.
Now lets do all that and see what else we can damage, because apparently damaging is what im being paid to do. :-/

CEO's in the video game industry have too easy.

Good to see someone else can see FFX for the pile of mediocrity it is. What a step back from FFIX in every way, they should remake the PS1 Final Fantasies.

The real reason they won't do that is because Sony won't allow them to go multi-platform and they won't want to go to the expense of re-making the PS1 games unless they can sell across at least the PS3 & 360. Or rather they will only do it if Sony stumps up some cash to help them out. And Sony's in no position to do that, probably doesn't want to either, at least not until SE actually delivers on the PS3 exclusive FF games they seem to have promised.

So give up on getting the PS1 FFs re-made at least for another generation or 2, when they really have scraped the bottom of the barrel and completely run out of ideas.

My point is is how can they not remake a ps1 ff but they are willing to remake a ps2 ff? If i were them i would have went with all ps1 ff remakes on the Vita (you are correct sony is cock blocking) and then jump over to ps2 FF, i mean if Wada wants to make money thats what he should do.

Your point isa stupid one because you have no clue what you're talking about. Remaking a pixilated PS1 game requires full texture overhaul and recreating models from scratch and the world as well as making sure the engine being used is modified to handle those changes. All they're doing with X is using  the same data and modifying it with the new engine. FFX isn't going to look like FF13, it's basically FFX in HD with redone character models and enemies.

Also because you lack the inability to do basic research you'd know that FFX is the 2nd most popular FF game behind FFVII. It sold almost 10 million vopies more than any other FF game bar VII. So don't act like your crappy opinion = Everyone elses or Sqaure enix for that matter.

After FF9, the graphics and visuals started becoming and end rather than a mean. 10 is when they started taking out features in order to preserve the visual quality.

From initial reports, like the fact it's going to be one disc on 360 - FF XIII-2 looks like it's going to be really short.

They just didn't have time to do a lot of CGI so all the cutscenes are ingame, they said the game is 40+ hours without sidequests and will have far more side quests and a more open world to explore so probably the same or more actual gameplay.

SE says alot of things.  I'm just hoping that it's not going to be repeating the same area over and over.

Very true but FFXII was 38.4GB and 31.6GB of that was CGI. Minus the CGI, FFXIII would fit on one DVD. It only had 6.8GB of game data. That's enough to fit on a 360 DVD before MS bumped the capacity of 360 DVDs from 6.8GB to 7.8GB.

It also means that the game wont be cutscene, corridor, cutscene, corridor, cutscene... but i'm stil not convinved it will be good.

Oh neither am I.  I don't have a high opinion of SE. I haven't in a long time. VII and VIII weren't very good. IX was a step in the right direction. I liked X but I can see why others did not. X-2 was a joke. XII could have been great if SE stayed out of Matsuno's way. XIII was one of the worst JRPGs I've ever had the displeasure of playing and unfortunately....owning.

I actully agree with you on every level, except for FF7. but FF7 is pretty awful now, as in Advent Children, Dirge of Cerberus, Before Crisis, Crisis Core and anything else they have linked to FF7 has just spoiled it.

i'm ready to wash my hands of Square Enix. they had their chance. in 10 years they've release 2 main FF games, neither have which have been exceptionally good. FF12 was good, but not the masterpiece it couldve been. and thats Square's fault. FF13, well you've said it. i think theres a few good moments in it, like Gran Pluse, but nothing that warrants 5 years of development. FF10, while i dont think its brilliant, i cant deny that a lot of people like it, so it is good on some levels. the combat was actully very well done at the time.  but i dont need a rerelease of it to know that.

Square have had their chance this gen, and they've wasted it. Sakaguchi has just finished The Last Story and i think he'll be back with something else. Matsuno is now at Level 5 and far away from the hands of Sqaure's mediocracy. and i'm looking foward to seeing his announcement from them. Tales of Graces is coming next year, Ni No Kuni, etc. i  dont think FF13-2 is going to perform well, and i hope it sends the message to Square, that the game is up!! they blew it! not to mention on the heels of FF14's failure, they've decided to make Dragon Quest 10 an MMO. so yeah, that could be DQ down the sh***r as well.
