So everyone knows in the past month or so several Live user accounts were banned. This included many game journalists and gamers alike. Nobody was safe from Microsoft's banning assault. Originally when approached Microsoft defended banning several prominent members of the media, I'm not sure what was said to users since I wasn't banned and didn't email them for comment.
Anyways turns out Microsoft was using software to assist them in banning. This software was supposed to help them find modified consoles and software. However it turns out that this software was faulty and even though their was Microsoft human over sight many innocent accounts were closed. The software will no longer be used by Microsoft to police Live!
Microsoft seems to regret this grave mistake and has issued a statement to Joystiq. Here is the article in question! Microsoft says that not to many accounts were wrongly banned this isn't a huge issue. But to those poor saps who were wrongly banned Microsoft will be giving them 3 months free Live and 1,600 Microsoft points as compensation.
Were you banned for no reason? Do you think Microsoft is doing enough to compensate those that they wrongly banned? What should Microsoft do now and in the future to ensure this never happens again?
