Forums - Nintendo - Skyrim studio: Wii U is 'a possibility'

ONM

The studio behind The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, one of this year's big Christmas blockbusters, have told Official Nintendo Magazine that it is possible that they will work on Wii U in the future.

When asked about Wii U, Bethesda's Pete Hines said: "It's definitely a possibility for the future. We'll look at any platform that will support that games we're trying to make, but that's the key thing - the console has to support the game as it is designed."
Yet before you start jumping to the conclusion that The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is coming to Wii U in 2012, a word a caution. Hines said that creating games for multiple platforms is a lot of work.

"The more changes we have to make to a game the less and less palatable it becomes because making a game is an enormous process. Just doing 360, PS3 and PC - I don't think people understand the amount of work that goes into that. All of the localisation you have to do... all of the testing you have to do... on every platform in every language... It's a pretty huge undertaking.

"So you aren't just supporting the Wii U; You're supporting it in English, French, Italian, German and Spanish."

Still, the Vice President of PR at Bethesda did offer ONM a word of hope when he concluded: "We'll see. It's definitely a possibility."

Everyone deserves to play this epic. and i hope they also bring Deus Ex HR to the Wii-U as well, everyone deserves to play that as well.

One of the positives for the Wii U's viability among 3rd party developers is that (if we are to believe Nintendo and some of the developers working on Wii U) it's supposedly very developer friendly and similar to the 360/PC, so most companies making multiplatform games like Skyrim or Call of Duty for example shouldn't have too much of an issue bringing their games to the Wii U.

The only thing that could potentially hold them back is the controller set up and online infrastructure of the Wii U... developers of games like CoD and Skyrim want to make sure that the Wii U is very "DLC-friendly", after all.

You know I was always wondering why no one ever used the dollar sign for $ony, but then I realized they have no money so it would be pointless.

As with what DICE said, they could have just gone with "lol no" and saved precious kilobytes of data

It looks cool but not a must for me but if it comes to Wii U then I will get it there as we will most likely get more stuff and better graphics so I can wait

Of course it's a possibility. Putting games on different systems is always a possibility!

So in other words, that's a "no" from them.

not quite. They'll probably end up releasing an amateurish racing game.

Until you've played it, every game is a system seller!

Its obvious that a lot of developer wait to see how the Wii U does before releasing their games on it. Skyrim , BF3 and others are going to be on Wii U if the developer come to the conclusion its profitable enough for them.
