I don't find it that intrusive. Years back, updates were like once every two weeks but now they're months in between.

I thought this was a thread updating games not updating the firmware...if it's the latter...there's really nothing to complain about...

Each update brings a new agreement the user must accept and they probably want that forced electronic signature. PSN+ users probably have some other way of signing that change as part of their monthly/yearly dues. |
Yeah, but automatic updates are available to PSN+ users so I assume that means they found a way around it.

Do automatic updates not work for firmware?
Immediate satisfaction requires a premium. It's a pretty simple concept that most industries have been able to exploit out of the lazier consumers. Pretty logical, really. Apple, Alienware, Dell, Microsoft, Sony, etc... they all employ this strategy.
I see where your coming from as automatic update is such a simple feature that everyone should have access to, but why not just get ps plus anyway? Get loads of goodies.

IIRC they do but you have "sign" before it installs, if you want to you can cancel.

Updating is something everyone has to do and something Sony should really want us to do. |
..and as you mentioned before, updating is a pain. so apperently sony thinks automatic update is a useful feature to entice people to buy into psn+.

If you want to play offline, then you're not forced to update directly.
So I don't bother updating right now.
