I say 360 because of the possibility of a $179.99 xbox 360 sku.

I say Playstation 3, because it has quite a "decent" support worldwide, different to 360 that has support only on America. Also, PS3 is gonna see some big guns this year.

If their prices stayed the same as they are today, I think the PS3 would outsell the 360. But it would be fairly close. If Microsoft decides to drop the price of the 360, I don't think Sony will be able to follow and Microsoft could run away with a lot of sales. A $300 or even 280 premium model with two free games would push a lot of people over the tipping point for either console.

 Remember USA is only one country. What about the possibility of a $300 PS3. Or a £200-£225 PS3.

I'm not sure honestly. Depends on how things stabilize after the holidays, how much the 360's price drop affects sales, and what happens when the PS3 gets its first 90+ rated exclusives (MGS4 and GT5?).

I'd rate the chances as close to 50-50 as possible. I intend to at least slightly get off the fence in two weeks or so. =P

I think PS3, but it will be close. Within 2 million units of each other, in the 7-11 million range for both platforms, I suspect.

If they didn't change prices or add new SKUs, I would say the results of the first week of GTAIV sales would tell us how the rest of the year would go. That may sound drastic, but it really is a series that can affect the outcome that much (as we saw when GTA3 released). I believe that the 360 would outsell the PS3 by a slightly greater percentage than it did this year.

However, there are WAY too many unknown variables--it's obvious that MS will drop the price at some point, likely in the next three months, and Sony might too, but the question is how much? And for all the good games we know are coming out next year, let's face it, MS, and to a lesser extent Sony, have been very quiet about next year's lineup.

I think ms will drop the price signifiganly. Idk but i expect a 200 arcade a 300 dollar premium by the end of 08. If ms does that then sony HAS to follow suit with a price drop to stay competitive. I think we'll see a 300 dollar 40 gig and a 400 dollar 80 by the end of 08. My money is on ms, though i would prefer sony to sell more simply for the fact that they made a reliable console from the start and want to see more developers design games for it.
