Forums - Sales - Which console will sell more in 2008, PS3 or 360?

PS3 is gonna tear it up in '08. LTD will be PS3 > 360 by end of '08. Those of you who keep on about MS making a price drop need to consider that MS's game division is in no better shape than Sonys without the Halo 3 quarter software sales. Sony can easily match even a $50 dollar price drop. Even more so in Japan where the 360 sales next to nothing.

Hopefully the install base and sales of MGS are enough to keep Konami happy and further fuel system sales until FF13 hits and square is more than happy to leave it exclusive. '08 is going to be an amazing year for Sony and MS best watch it's back.

With the true lineup for the PS3 this year. I would give the nod to Sony.

Microsoft took last year completely, without a shout of a doubt. But if developers can prevent delays with these big-budget games, then PS3 has 2008 wrapped up.

The worst case scenario is delays and Xbox 360 takes this year again.

Me thinks ms has a couple tricks up their sleeve for CES next week what with all the rumors floating around. This week was a good way to start the year off for sony but their not out of the woods yet. Also as long as warner stays nuetral i think blu ray will win as well thus increasing the demand (potentially) for the ps3. Rumor has it though that ms, toshiba, warner brothers, and universal had a meeting last week and rumors point to a wb exclustivity deal for hd dvd. I hope that doesnt happen though.

PS3, but not by much. In the end, despite Sony's success this holiday season, the Xbox360 has still managed to increase their lead by about 1.5 million from the launch of the PS3.

By the end of next year, I expect the Xbox 360 lead to be back to where it was at launch. Long term, I still don't see the PS3 overtaking the Xbox360.

In order for PS3 to pass 360 in LTD sales during 2008 PS3 would have to out sell 360 by more than 130K every week of the year. I find that hard to believe.

The 360 could reach the $200 mass market price tag this year, in which case they will easily beat PS3.

360 sales in Japan might be next to nothing, but you have to remember that until the holiday season the PS3 slaes were almost nothing also. If I remember correctly they were as low as 15K. Japan won't help PS3 by that much. FF13 might not even come out at all in 2008 so it might not help at all.

Going into the first week, PS3 had the softest fall in all regions. That's a good start for Sony.

"Naturally the common people don't want war: Neither in Russia, nor in England, nor for that matter in Germany. That is understood. But, after all, IT IS THE LEADERS of the country who determine the policy and it is always a simple matter to drag the people along, whether it is a democracy, or a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is TELL THEM THEY ARE BEING ATTACKED, and denounce the peacemakers for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. IT WORKS THE SAME IN ANY COUNTRY."  --Hermann Goering, leading Nazi party member, at the Nuremberg War Crime Trials

PS3, no doubt

 1. It's possible but probably unlikely. (pretty close last week. Lets see how things go thos week)

2. Won't hit $200 range, 250 more likely. Don't expect the arcade to sell like the wii.

3. FF13 is NOT coming out this year. GT5 might not make it either. But there are plenty of JRPGs this year.

Well if the ps3 sales drop only 100k more and stay at 300-400k weekly WW I would not only be impressed, but PS3 may really gain ground and market share.

 2008 end of year predictions:

PS3: 22M

360: 25M

wii: 40M

this is a tough one for me... depends on games delays... price cuts ... new game announcements and etc...
