Forums - PC - So I hope this off the shelf PC will be adequate for most gaming for a while

Dell Inspiron 620

CPU 3.3GHz, 3MB cache

4GB Ram

AMD HD6450 1GB DDR graphics

Was on special for 30% off. Basically it's impossible to find a PC (with monitor included) with a dedicated graphics card for less than $1000. This one's for $977.

It will be adequate if you put a nice GPU in it ;)
I don't expect to see much gaming from it on a 6450HD. Especially DDR, and not GDDR.

Get a 6670 if you're on a budget. It's a great little card.

I actually found some decent refurbished HP desktops on sites like Best Buy for pretty cheap. While they aren't the top of the line specs they usually don't run for more than 300-450 for specs almost similar to the one you bought. You should check out the refurbished section next time. They are tested and basically brand new.

how much is that in USD?

dang

6450 is no good, list some video card prices over there for me or something, because there is noway in hell you can run off a 6450 on games like BF3 or SC2 or even WoW at high quality+high FPS, not even a 5770 can do that and the 6450 is much much lower spec.

he's at the ends of the world man, there is no such thing as cheap computing in New Zealand.

It's OK otherwise but good luck trying to play games with that graphics card. Definitely needs a better graphics card, and if you're unlucky, that better graphics card is going to need a better PSU as well.

Get it, then upgrade the card later, its as simple as that.
you don't have to buy PCs twice, so whatever it costs, it will pay off in a longshot.
