How often do you do self imposed challenges in games?

I do them all the time, t... 10 25.64%

I've done a few, only th... 17 43.59%

I've done one or two but... 5 12.82%

Never done one but I would like to. 1 2.56%

I have no interest in them what so ever. 6 15.38%

Total:39

So I'm attempting a self imposed challenge in Final Fantasy X, basically, the rules are I'm not allowed to use sphere grids, not allowed to escape any fights I get into, not allowed to use any weapons that stop encounters, not allowed to use Rikku's overdrive and no upgrading Summons.

This game is now incredibly harder than I would like, Only at Bikanel now and I'm struggling. I'm wondering how can people do these on a regular basis.

PS One/2/p/3slim/Vita owner. I survived the Apocalyps3/Collaps3 and all I got was this lousy signature.

Nothing of the torture myself for no reason sort (like this, sorry bro :P ), but all the games I get I play on the hardest difficulty from the start. Unless it's SFIV, I just get my ass handed to me repeatedly :P

I have heard of the nsgnsncnonennenbb challenge for FFX I'll take it you aren't doing it to that extreme. I have never done anything like that.

That's a bit extreme for me, I was gonna add NBB to this one but since I used it to get Attack reels, it kinda defeated the purpose, I guess I can add "NZ" to the list for now as I've yet to use Zanmato :D but if it weren't for summons, I wouldn't have gotten as far as I have right now.

Not so much a self-imposed challenge as me being rather cheap, but I got the Blazblue Continuum Shift platinum without picking up any of the DLC characters. The primary challenge of the plat is completing 100 combo challenges across all characters. If you have the DLC its basically an easy 20 challenges or so. Without the DLC its significantly harder.

Proudest Platinums:
1. Gran Turismo 5
2. Persona 4 Arena
3. Wipeout HD
4. Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2
5. Super Street Fighter 4

I am just like this but for some games this doesn't work. Like fallout and oblivion. And crackdown.

Not any more. I used to do it last gen. I don't do it anymore because trophies / achievements usually offer all the challenges I'm interested in. Ex. Finishing a game on hard. Or maybe surviving for 10 min with a 6-star rating in GTA. That's the thing I like about trophies / achievements

Yes. With the Resident Evil series.

Basically, back in the 90s with the first Resident Evil, you could unlock the Rocket Launcher if you beat the game without saving or using first aid kits, all in under 3 hours.

It took me a few days to finally succeed. The hardest part for me was refraining myself from using first aid kits.

Ever since then, I have a mental block when I play Resident Evil games. I simply refuse to use First Aid Kits! Only herbs. Weird, I know.

I am the black sheep     "of course I'm crazy, but that doesn't mean I'm wrong."-Robert Anton Wilson

I don't do this kind of stuff "on purpose" but I usually end up doing something a bit similar (defeat all enemies, get all medals, no extra items...etc) cuz that's just the way I tend to play

I usually don't play through a game more than once so the one time has to be remarkable

Kill the Snake before entering Fort Condor or Junon in FFVII.

Get one of each piece of gear in FFXII and fighting the Red Chocobo.

Big Boss Emblem.
