How often do you do self imposed challenges in games?

It can be done and I did it. If you wonder what the last few lines in the original post are about, the guy I mocked (MontanaHatchet) was a moderator at that time.

Yes, we both haven't made any videos or taken screenshots, but it's legit. You'll realize that it is possible once you seriously attempt to do it. Both runs were done on the Wii version that allows you skip cutscenes on a new game and not only on a new game+ like in the PS2 version.

Ah, there's the problem. I'll be doing a fresh New Game on the PS2 version, so I guess the cutscenes will be padding the time much more than I want.

in FF10 i upgraded my ass off, even now with my last play through(haven't beat sin yet still in the omega ruins and i'm here everyday) 5 of the seven characters have 9999 HP and 999 MP without the legendary weapons.

trophies do that for me... i dont play RPGs so its just dificult settings and some in-game challenges i come up with but not major things that makes me play trough the entire game very different from what i would normally do.

some times i like to play KZ2/3 or battlefield BC2 just with hand guns in on-line rounds just for fun...

i think it can be done so don't give up. wht you should do is upgrade HP only. it would still be as hard as it is now but you'd live longer.

I don't suppose aiming for levels that require several hours of grinding in an RPG counts?
Like, you know, I'll be level 90 before I face the Elite Four and stuff?

Yes it can be done, even though I'm not allowed to mix, Rikku is still my strongest link it seems but her item stash is so low now that it makes it impossible, doesn't help that Evrae keeps cheating!! It waits until it has two goes back to back before doing "poison breath" which any other day wouldn't mean anything but in a NSG, it's a one hit kill for everyone. I guess the other thing I could try is to just have the ship as far away as possible and have wakka use his normal attacks with Kimarhi using Lancet or Lulu using magic, that would be a long and dull fight but could work...

I used to try and beat Metroid games with minimum item, beat Street Fighter without using special moves, and beat Super Mario Bros. 1's first level using just my toes. I'm sure I've done things like that in hundreds of games but then Achievements and Trophies came along. Suddenly, my self imposed goals didn't mean much. Hell, sometimes, I'll get all of the Achievements I can in a game and, even though the game is still fun, I refuse to play it anymore (Pac-Man CE DX, for example).

Yup, they count. some well known ones include ff7 lvl 100 train station, KH lvl 99 beach amongst others, they exist and quite scary :D

To tell you the truth? I'm missing Yuna right now, I have a couple of strategies I can try but if they don't work then I may have to either go back to an earlier save to farm some items or quit x_x
