Some of it is probably because Square Enix isn't providing the jRPG fans what they want, so it's Namco's gain.

This game could easily be a million seller if Namco does the thing they detest so much - localize it.

as of right now i see Ni No Kuni doing like 200k 1st week, 500k lifetime but of course it's kind of early to really tell

Xillia will do 700k-1mill lifetime in Japan alone

i think it will hit 700k in it's 3rd or 4th week :)

It all depends on word of mouth.

It seems it's getting tons of attention for a new game, it's trailer already had 385K views after just a week and is being well received. Can't really blame them. It looks really good.
