Okay, so I finally found this thread, too. I thought about what to post here and I think, that the reason, why this thread doesn't work very well, is also because I somehow get the feeling that I'm, in a way, forced to post here, although I could, if I wanted to, go to some of the real gaming threads and post there. I think we don't need someone to give us a voice, thanks, though.

Other than that, the reason why I, personally, don't post in the gaming topics (yet), is because I'm just not up to date. Until now, I couldn't afford any of the "newer" consoles, just bought a PS3 today and even that will hurt like b* when I'm going to peek into my bank account. Also the games, as you guys know only too well, are very expensive. 
So for the last, like 6 or 7 years I've been playing on my PS2 or lousy PCs and the games, you guys are talking about here, always seem to be the newest of the new, and until I'm able to play them, there are not a subject anymore and already "old. So, I think this forum is just, in a way, too fast for me.

I like survival horror a lot. Other than that I like almost everything that has interesting characters and a story in it. Or zombies.

And up to now I don't own a PS3 game at all, but since I have a gaming boyfriend and my best friend has a few games as well, I don't think I will be too short on them. I think I will try AC:Brotherhood first, though, since I already started it on PC until it crashed - hard drive damage. -_-

Since we do have a couple of females in this thread and I'm too lazy to go to the "Post Your Mind Thread", I'll take advantage of this opportunity to learn more about the female mind.

PS3 and a gaming PC. I have a DS Lite but I never use it.

-Do you prefer mobile device gaming like cell phones or do you prefer portable consoles (like the 3DS)
Probably iPod gaming just because the less I have to carry, the better, but I don't really game much on the go.

-Have you tried Kinect yet and was it the most awesome experience of your video game life?
Nope.

-Do you tend to get a lot of respect when gaming online or do people suddenly act crazy when they find out that a girl is playing online (usually, when I play online with a girl, everyone is pretty cool).

People act pretty normally for the most part.

-Do you prefer social gaming experiences (Uno, Call of Duty) or do you prefer solo experiences (JRPG's, Adventures)
Solo games unless it's local coop or I'm playing with a friend.

-What is your opinion of Cooking Mama? Is she the greatest female role model in all of gaming?
Mostly indifferent towards her. Greatest role model? Not if I can cook better than she can.... LOL Bonus points if you get that!

-And finally, what is your take on "Nubaggeddon"?

I don't plan on getting a 3DS. I've tried it and it makes me a little sick. I usually just turn off the 3D, in which case, what's the point? Even so, it feels like a misstep on Nintendo's part not to include it from the very beginning. Such a large add-on sort of defeats the purpose of having a portable in the first place and divides the consumers. Which begs the question: Why is Capcom putting Monster Hunter 4 on 3DS and not Vita?

Here's a question for the rest of you ladies: Do you find story and characters play a more important role than other factors in determining whether a game is good for you personally? (I'm getting the sense that this is so...)

I ask this because I started getting into games through Final Fantasy and still enjoy playing a lot of RPGs as well as more plot-heavy adventure games. Some of my friends have also been the same way, and it sounds like IGN Girlfight are really into RPGs and story-driven games as well, so it could be a trend. Could publishers use these elements to market their core games more towards women?

As an example, one of my friends only played a few games sporadically when we were young and to the best of my knowledge hasn't played much since. However, she started watching her boyfriend play Assassin's Creed 2 and got so into the story and the character of Ezio that she just had to play it for herself, and now she's hooked and considering getting a PS3 for herself. Ta-da! Converted!

And a question for you guys: Have you played Cooking Mama? :)

Story driven games for me. I started by playing platform and fighting games but at the first taste of final fantasy i was hooked into rpgs and started playing a lot more and looking for more games of that genre. i think for girls it's very important to be playing an interesting story, with interesting characters.

i dont know how you'd market that to women though, a commercial centered around story plot or characters? i dont think that would grab the attention. the only way might be hands on experience with the game but you dont see many girls trying games in public unless they want to try dance central or something. a girl wouldnt grab a remote for the first time in a public place and try mechanics she never tried before cause she's afraid she'll suck in public.

most girls who didnt start playing videogames when they were kids start playing like your friend. they watched a boyfriend or a brother play, got hooked to the story and didnt want to depend on the other to play it through.

i never played cooking mama... lets keep it that way.
