Announcements

A new color variation has been introduced to target the female market. The "Misty Pink" 3DS is due for release on October 20.

Improvements coming to the 3DS system via a firmware update. This update will add the ability to take 3D videos through the system's camera, an improved e-Shop, and an updated Mii Plaza.

Nintendo announced a collaboration with animation studios Production I.G, Studio 4C and Shaft. These studios will produce original 3D animation shorts based off Kid Icarus. The shorts will be distributed through the 3DS e-Shop for free throughout the world.

The Nintendo 3DS Expansion Slide Pad will be released on December 10. It requires one AAA battery to run. The device will only work with compatible titles. The current list of compatibility includes Monster Hunter 3G, Resident Evil Revelations, Metal Gear Solid Snake Eater 3D, Ace Combat 3D Cross Rumble, Dynasty Warriors VS and Kingdom Hearts 3D.

I am hoping for some sort of exclusive deal with Square Enix. If Nintendo gains Square Enix on their side for Final Fantasy, Dragon Quest, Kingdom Hearts, and remakes of some old classics (Final Fantasy III, FF7, E.V.O. Terranigma, Illusion of Time, etc...), and new co-operative projects (similar to Mario RPG) then I don't really care about any other game or company.

I describe myself as a little dose of toxic masculinity.

Something DQ related would be awesome (VII remake perhaps?), I want to see more from Paper Mario 3D as well, news for that game has got worryingly quiet since it's reveal at E3 2010.

I'm excited. I have to wonder I was just watching TV today and they had a live feed going and the reporter said they were using a new program that gave subtitles live translating what was being said. I wonder how expensive that technology is, wouldn't it be awesome if Nintendo's conference was translated live so all of us could read the sub titles and not have to guess what is being said?

In the end the biggest thing I can't wait for at Nintendo's conference is confirmation a new 3DS model isn't coming out. If such a model was coming prior to E3 next year then it would have to be shown tuesday. I'm really hoping Nintendo isn't stupid and that my predicted course will turn out to be the one Nintendo chooses.

Of course I also can't wait to see some of what Nintendo's first parties have been up to. Whether theirs a new Yoshi sidescroller or a new Fire Emblem. I just wanna see some more games. Of course I wanna see third party software as well after seeing UbiSoft cancel AssasinsCreed and other prominent third parties scaling back support. I wanna see some strong third party content announced!
