The oft-rumored EA and Starbreeze Syndicate reboot is real. A product page, including a description and set of screenshots, were put up on the EA Origin store tonight, but were quickly removed. Though not before the internet could grab a hold of it!  

EA and Starbreeze are turning the classic real-time tactical franchise into a “unique action shooter” set in a 2069 where “Business is War.” Here’s its description, as seen on the Origin store before it was taken down:

ssssstttt... don't you remember streets of Simcity.. back then car destruction games were very popular so they made that one.. with the popularity of FPS I can see them do it again...

No wonder Nintendo is going down! They persistently refuse tom reboot Mario as a "unique action shooter"

Operation SimCity, a group of special forces are in for the greatest war simulator of all time.  A large sanbox city taken over by thugs and criminals. Now it must be liberated by the group of super soldiers hired by the United Nations. Unleash disasters upon your enemies buildings and drive vehicles wildly through the streets. Destroy the criminals everywhere they stand and liberate the great Sim City.

Stupid Nintendo they had it right when they made Cross Bow Training. Should have made it a full fledged FPS with tea bagging and online. Give us some Hylian warfare 3 Nintendo. Mario busting a cap in Bowsers ass would also be pretty cool, bet it would sell millions. Then we could give Captain Olimar a Pikmin launcher.

Top it off with Super Smash Shooter the ultimate FPS featuring all of the Nintendo characters you know and love. Armed with sub machine guns rocket launchers and bows and arrows its a bloody death match.

Did I mention all of these games should have head set compatability so when someone gets a head shot on Pikachu they can scream profanities at the little children.

The industry is collapsing and they throw FPS after FPS without trying new things... I feel depressed now.

did you guys actually played the original ? i'm pretty sure non of you did, Syndicate wasn't that good of a game to begin with
i'm not interested anyways, i want Road Rash EA! , but XCom on the other hand.... -sigh- that was a real shame, since the original was great.

I'm looking forward to the re-release on gog.com (btw: the latest gog.com re-releases of EA/Bullfrog/Origin Systems games are Wing Commander 1+2, Populous, Dungeon Keeper 2 and Ultima I-VI).

I'm not interested in this reboot. If these screenshots are true, the new Syndicate looks like any modern 3rd person action game, just like the upcoming X-Com looks like any modern FPS. Syndicate was a RTS or real time tactics game, but why should the IP owner care...
