Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Castlevania 3DS to be revealed next week?

Rely On Horror

Next week will see TGS 2011 and all its festivities take place. We’ll also be getting, in a rare turn of events, a special Nintendo 3DS Conference just before the show. In it we’re expecting to see Nintendo fully showing off their second analog stick attachment for the glasses-free 3D handheld as well as a good amount of games being announced. Amongst them being one that many ‘vania fans have been waiting for since the 3DS launched (since the series has been quite nice to Nintendo’s last two handhelds).

Yes, according to a user on NeoGAF, next week will see the official announcement of a new Castlevania for the 3DS (as well as a new Contra and Fire Emblem title). The user also goes on to state how fans may not be too happy with the new direction the new game will be taking, which honestly worries me (despite being a rumor, albeit one that will most likely end up being true). We won’t have to wait long to find out if this is true or not. As always, stay tuned for more ‘vania coverage.

As long as it isn't a remake them i'm all for it.

With all these rumours we're pretty much set up for massive disappointment...

It probaly wont be a Metroidvania

Why don't you make like a tree and get out of here?

Yah this happens prior to every Nintendo press conference. People go nuts with rumors and fans get so hyped that when the conference happens and Nintendo doesn't live up to the rumors everyone is dissapointed. Usually I would air on the side of caution and not believe shit until Nintendo confirms it.

However in this case Nintendo has no choice but to deliver. Its ability to crush PS Vita is at stake here and its ability to compete against the smart phone market is also at stake. Sony is showing off 18 new unrevealed titles for Vita all expected to launch within the launch window. That would bring Sony's launch line-up to nearly 40 games last I heard.

Nintendo even with its head start doesn't have that many games on the market. Not to mention the titles announced for PS Vita are almost all well known AAA+ franchises. What about these new 18 titles?

Nintendo has lacked one thing since launch, software. If Sony can launch a huge line-up of successful titles with Vita and Nintendo doesn't have a huge line up to counter with. Then Nintendo will have a hard time keeping Sony under control, they may even challenge Nintendo's iron grip on the handheld industry. If Nintendo looses the handheld war it will be the first time in its history.

So my expectations are high, I expect Nintendo to give us everything they've got at this conference. New first and third party titles all coming within the Vita launch window. New hardware like the peripheral. Nintendo will not hold back this time round, they can't!

I really hope it's a 2D game (utilizing the 3DS's 3D capabilities).

True, but that doesn´t mean they´ll always be Metroidvanias...the guy says "fans may not be happy with the direction of the game"....if he´s right, we´re probably looking at a 3D Castlevania..

I haven´t seen a single screen and know nothing about the game, but if it´s indeed a 3D iteration, it´s already enough for me to lose interest..especially on a handheld.
