I think it will its already doing great overseas and I'm guessing it will have even better legs then Skyfall and will probably end up slightly ahead of LOTR: The Return of the King world wide.

Hobbit doesn't have the same appeal as the lord of the rings
Anyways i could easily see the hobbit doing better in north america, but not worldwide.

both are great movies, but skyfall didn't get panned by critics ;)

I'm thinking Tolkien is a much bigger deal outside the US just like J.K. Rowling and the Harry Potter books.

I agree! It seems to only be panned by myself. I saw a bunch of recycled, uninspired, lazy ideas. My least enjoyed hyped movie of the year. |
Don't be to harsh on yourself there are plenty of people that liked Casino Royale better then Skyfall.
| spurgeonryan said: Anyone have a budget for The Hobbit? Currently at 230 million WW! |
Haven't seen any numbers yet. Also they shot three movies at once.
| spurgeonryan said: Well I believe the first trilogy was 300 million. So lets add a bit to this. Although it was made by a bunch of struggling studios. |
I don't know if its over 300 million its a bit high even though its three movies its really more like two movies that they streched out into three. Also the book its based on is only 310 pages one movie would have been enough but they added stuff Tolkien wrote about middle earth after he was finished writing the Hobbit and the Lord of the Ring Trilogy.
