1. wait for TGS and see if there is announcement on the second nub add on and its price
2. wait if there is announcement for new redesign, release date and price
3. wait for shit storm of second hand 3ds being sold dirt cheap
4. see if used 3ds plus stupid addon 5. if yes, go buy cheap ass second hand 3ds and add on
6. if no, wait for new re design and buy that
7. or you could just get vita

As said, the problem with waiting for the redesign is that six months later there will be a massive price drop!
Then an addon will be announced that makes the redesigned system the ultimate babe repellent, followed by a redesign that integrates it after six months.

Thus continues the Nintendo cycle of shame - just like the Apple cycle of shame, only less pretty

I do not think you should wait, unless you intend to wait till 2013. I don't expect Nintendo to release a new model of 3DS alongside WiiU, the two consoles would cannabolize each other. Nintendo by releasing this peripheral show they have no intentions of releasing a redesign in the near future. Honestly alot of good games are going to come out before the redesign launches and the amount of play you will get out of it prior to the redesign will be worth the 169.99$.

Yes I am 100% positive that the second analog stick and two triggers will be included in the redesign. Much like how M+ got made into every controller after a year or so on the market. I'm not sure how much more battery life the device will have, Nintendo is loosing money on every unit they sell and I can't see them increasing the battery life and adding much functionality until the device becomes cheaper to manufacture.

So expect to get at least a year of the 3DS before the redesign. If the redesign was coming anytime prior to E3 then they would be showing it at this press conference. Its not likely to get shown at E3 because WiiU will be the cornerstone of the show and Nintendo will not want to compete with itself.

So as I said I expect at earliest to see 3DS remodel released around Spring 2013. But since Nintendo had such little success with their spring launch of 3DS I'm guessing they will probably shoot for a September or November 2013 release. Meaning you've got about two years before this new model hits the market.

Some may argue that the re-model will come out sooner. But I don't see that happening, it would be too costly it would piss off to many early adopters and it would cut into reveniew.

I am 90% sure that the earliest we will see a new 3DS model is early 2013! So yes go out and buy one, unless your willing to wait two years if so I have a hard time seeing how you can be excited for those games. MarioKart, Super Mario 3D Land, StarFox and OoT are enough to make the console a must own for any Nintendo fan. Throw in Paper Mario, Kid Icarus, Animal Crossing and so fourth and the console is irresistable. Waiting two years to get your hands on it seems irrational to me!

lol yeah instead of removing minor features that have nothing to do with gameplay from their systems nintendo should continue adding features that could dramatically improve gameplay as an afterthought... makes sense...

Yup. They can first start removing backward compatibility and claim that nobody use it.

Then followed by removing 3D screen and claim that nobody use it.

Then remove the touch screen and keep only 1 large screen since it doesn't add to gameplay.

They can keep removing features until they get,

I thought this was for 3DS in general.

However if a redesigned console has dual analog, and a better battery. That would be enough in itself to wait.
