Gears...by a country mile

Neither one will win 'by a country mile'. Gears is a much smaller franchise than Halo and the boost will likely be noticably smaller than Reach, and possibly smaller than 3. Xillia will probably top out at around the same boost as MHTri. So regardless of which one wins it won't be by a significant margin. Personally I think the Xillia boost will edge out the Gears boost by a small 3k-8k margin.

Proudest Platinums:
1. Gran Turismo 5
2. Persona 4 Arena
3. Wipeout HD
4. Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2
5. Super Street Fighter 4

Gears 3.

The PS3 is already riding a 'boost'. The X360 is pretty low now so it's boost will be higher.

close call

Gears.

Atto Suggests...:

Book - Malazan Book of the Fallen series

Game - Metro Last Light

TV - Deadwood

Xilia. ,most who wants gears has a 360. The boost will be very small.

People said the same thing about Halo: Reach and look the huge boost it gave.

To be fair, the new xbox model had just come out when halo reach was released.

Ya about 3 months earlier. The 360 was still riding the boost from the slim model when Reach released and added about another 100k doing about 250k that week. I still remember people saying Reach wouldn't move any HW because most people that wanted Reach had a 360 already. I'm not saying Gears 3 will move HW like Reach did, but it sure as hell will move about 50-100k extra for that week.

Gears, bro.

"Naturally the common people don't want war: Neither in Russia, nor in England, nor for that matter in Germany. That is understood. But, after all, IT IS THE LEADERS of the country who determine the policy and it is always a simple matter to drag the people along, whether it is a democracy, or a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is TELL THEM THEY ARE BEING ATTACKED, and denounce the peacemakers for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. IT WORKS THE SAME IN ANY COUNTRY."  --Hermann Goering, leading Nazi party member, at the Nuremberg War Crime Trials

Gears is Microsoft's 2nd biggest franchise. Xillia is...wait...what is Xillia? Has anyone outside of Japan (or this site) heard of it?

I'm not saying Japan isn't important, I'm just saying Japan hates the Xbox so it won't really matter.

Just my opinion, I could be wrong and I'm prepared to eat crow if I am.

Had anyone really heard of Monster Hunter Tri outside of Japan back in '09? Both series are small potatoes outside Japan, doesn't mean they don't move HW inside of it. This prediction has more to do with how hardcore the collectors in Japan are than how big the series is in the overall scheme of things. I'm not even trying to infer that 'Tales of' is a bigger series than Gears. Obviously it's not.
